The Prophet (peace be upon him) himself wore a long shirt like a kurta or a jubba, an izar-type cloth around his legs, a turban and a type of large cloak or shawl. Today all of these except the kurta/jubba have been left by the Arabs and most other Muslims. People say, 'oh, you shouldn't have western dress, that's a modern invention', when actually most 'Islamic dress' is also a modern invention.
