KUALA LUMPUR, May 28 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) and MERCY Malaysia are appealing for public donations to help survivors of Saturday's Yogyakarta earthquake.

For the MRCS, the public can channel their donations to the MRCS International Relief Fund, which can be made either by cheque or cash deposited into its Maybank account 5144-2210-2657.

As for MERCY Malaysia, donations can be deposited into its Maybank account 5621-7950-4126. Cheques should be made out to "MERCY Humanitarian Fund".

All donations within Malaysia are tax exempt.

In a statement Sunday, MRCS said it had sent a five-member team to join the Malaysian government's search-and-rescue team in Yogyakarta. The MRCS team will be stationed in Solo for two weeks.

Today, at 4 pm, 12 MRCS volunteers, bringing along a "Clinton Cooker" (a field stove), departed for Yogyakarta on board a Royal Malaysian Air Force C-130 aircraft, the statement said.

The MRCS headquarters in Jalan Ampang also became the coordination centre to gather information on the 150 Malaysia students resident in the affected area. All of them were later confirmed to be safe.

"The first group of 50 students have arrived at the Royal Malaysia Air Force base at Subang Airport and the rest will arrive at 9pm today," MRCS said.

Family members can contact the MRCS Operation Room at its national office in Jalan Nipah off Jalan Ampang, at the telephone numbers 03-42578726/42578122 or by fax at 03-42573537.

In a separate statement, Mercy Malaysia said it would deploy an Emergency Medical Relief mission team to Yogyakarta in Central Java, Indonesia.

The 11-member team comprising seven medical specialists and four non-medical volunteers, would leave in three batches today and tommorow, the statement said.

Earthquake with 5,9 richter scales happened in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. There are more than 4000 people dead, and lots who lost their home, lost their family. Last december there was tsunamy which cause thousands dead people and a lot of loss materials. And then the earthquake which caused the tsunamy also caused some of the mountain active. And then some of the planes crash, etc. It leaves us a thought, that Indonesia who have the most population of muslim on earth always have tests from Allah azza wa jalla. And its a lesson for us who witness the disasters. That maybe in the future it might be our turn. So I encourage muslims to be more taqwa to Allah, do a lot of amal hasanah, and seek for the usefull knowledges for them self. So we can standing in front of our Rabb later with a lot of rahmah from Him azza wa jalla.
And we must be able to take the hikmah from these disasters. I heard a story from one of my ustadh who also heard from his friend in Aceh when the disaster of tsunamy happen. Right before the tsunamy happen, there was a chinese christian who saw there were some men with a white jubah, their face so clean, and they were walking around one mosque/masjid in front of his house sticking somekinda wood to the ground. They sticked the wood in every corner of the masjid. And then came the tsunamy hit everything that it passed, houses flat to the ground, but the mosque saved, masha Allah. Ajiib. And when some of villagers were interviewed, they said " I saw somekinda a huge tall black thing by the horizon, I think it has the same height as the mountain"(the wave). And from the news we also know the speed of the tsunamy about 100km/hours. So how can the mosque just all right? It just have only a little damage here and there. And then this chinese man changed his religion and be muslim, Allahu Akbar. And ustadh said that these men who walking around the masjid are malaikah, the angels, and yes some of them who Allah decided will be able to see the angels, masha Allah. By the disaster came the hikmah who has made one kafeer into the love of Islam. And when the tsunamy happened, we can see the landscape after the tsunamy hit. Next to the ocean it would be just like flat destroyed area. All houses from the smallest one till the big one flat to the ground, masha Allah.But we still can see some of the little mosques still standing strongly, masha Allah. Laa hawla walaa quwwata illa billah. Actually, from the disasters, it has a lot of warning for human, Allahu A'lam bisshowab :brother:

Earthquakes in Islam

O mankind! Fear your Lord and be dutiful to Him! Verily, the earthquake of the Hour (of Judgement) is a terrible thing. The Day ye shall see it, every mother giving suck shall forget her suckling-babe, and every pregnant female shall drop her load (unformed): thou shalt see mankind as in a drunken riot, yet not drunk: but dreadful will be the Wrath of Allah. (al-hajj 22:1-2)

When Earth is shaken with her (final) earthquake. And Earth yieldeth up her burdens, And man says: What has befallen her? On that day she shall tell her news, Because your Lord had inspired her. (al-zizala, 99:1-5)

Do ye feel secure that He Who is in heaven will not cause you to be swallowed up
by the earth when it shakes (as in an earthquake)? (al mulk 64.16)

The news of the last week has been dominated by discussions of earthquakes. This is understandable considering the high death toll following the earthquake that hit the Indian cub-continent. Occurrences of this kind often push us, as humans, to think deeply about our predicament as human beings. That is, we are continually at the mercy of the elements. It is thought that the earth’s surface is physically built up of series tectonic plates that shift, collide and interact to release and retain the pressure that lies beneath, generated by the molten furnaces of the inners of this planet. Therefore living with seismic activity has always been an aspect of human existence. It follows then that thinkers and observers have always passed comment on this phenomenon.

The 1755 Lisbon earthquake compelled the French philosopher, Voltaire to question the nature of a god that would allow such an occurrence to happen. The priests of Lisbon however had few questions relating god’s attributes to the tragic event. It was clear to them that it was a punishment from god. Instead of turning their attentions to the 50,000 that died in the quake, they proceeded to salvage crucifixes and religious icons from the collapsing buildings. To them church paraphernalia was more important than the lives of “sinners”. They did this to ward off more catastrophes sent by a god made irate by the behaviour of people of Lisbon. Immanuel Kant was so disturbed by the Lisbon earthquake that he wrote three separate treatise on the issue of earthquakes. Earthquakes feature commonly in the old Judaeo-Christian text as well as the writings of ancient Greece and Rome. Thus philosophies and religions have addressed the natural phenomenon of earthquakes. All of these reams of text on the subject should come as no surprise as civilisations for millennia have experienced the deviation resulting from earthquakes.

Seismic convulsions also have a particular prominence within the text of Islam. In the Quran there are also several references to earthquakes in various contexts. Similarly the hadith of Rasool-Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) refer to this phenomenon. Earthquakes have been addressed in relation to civilisations that have been destroyed previously, as well as in relation to the end of the world and the accountability that we will all face, and also in relation to the signs of the hour. Thus earthquakes are central to the general culture of Islam.

There is a whole surat that bares the name, al-zilzala “the earthquake”. This is one of the most profound chapters in the Quran in that it describes in the most comprehensive way, but with in the simplest of terms exactly what the whole issue of the day of judgement is leading up to. That is, to see the results of our good and bad actions.

Abu Hurraairah narrated that Rasool-Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) recited
“On that day she shall tell her news” (Al-Zizala, 99:4). Then he (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) inquired, “Do you know what its ‘news’ are?” He was told “Allah and is Rasool know better.” He said, “Its news are that it shall bear witness against every slave man and woman concerning that which they did on its back. It will say ‘you did this and this on such and such day.’ These will be its news.” (tirmithi)

There are many other verses (see above) that address subject of the end of the world using the shaking of the earth to describe the horrors of that day.

The quran also describes the narrative of how the communities had disobeyed Allah (Subhanahu wa ta’ala) command or rejected the message that was brought to them.

And to (the people of) Madyan (Midian), We sent their brother Shu'aib (Shuaib). He said: "O my people! Worship Allah, and hope for (the reward of good deeds by worshipping Allâh Alone, on) the last Day, and commit no mischief on the earth as Mufsidun (those who commit great crimes, oppressors, tyrants, mischief-makers, corrupts). And they belied him [Shu'aib (Shuaib)], so the earthquake seized them, and they lay (dead), prostrate in their dwellings. And 'Ad and Thamud (people)! And indeed (their destruction) is clearly apparent to you from their (ruined) dwellings. Shaitan (Satan) made their deeds fair-seeming to them, and turned them away from the (Right) Path, though they were intelligent. (al Ankabout 29: 36-38)

So they killed the she­camel and insolently defied the Commandment of their Lord, and said: "O Salih (Saleh)! Bring about your threats if you are indeed one of the Messengers (of Allah)." So the earthquake seized them, and they lay (dead), prostrate in their homes. Then he [Salih (Saleh)] turned from them, and said: "O my people! I have indeed conveyed to you the Message of my Lord, and have given you good advice but you like not good advisers." (al-araaf 7:77-79)

And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves. (Adh-Dhariyat 51:43-45)

The sayings of Rasool-Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) also made reference to the issue of earthquakes. Again these are in several contexts. One of which was in relation to the signs of the hour that is to come.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: (The Prophet) said, "O Allah! Bless our Sham and our Yemen." People said, "Our Najd as well." The Prophet again said, "O Allah! Bless our Sham and Yemen." They said again, "Our Najd as well." On that the Prophet said, "There will appear earthquakes and afflictions, and from there will come out the side of the head of Satan." [bukari]

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "The Hour (Last Day) will not be established until (religious) knowledge will be taken away (by the death of religious learned men), earthquakes will be very frequent, time will pass quickly, afflictions will appear, murders will increase and money will overflow amongst you." (See Hadith No. 85 Vol 1). [bukari]

In the light of the Pakistani earthquake, every human being should look to himself or herself and contemplate whether they are living their lives as they should. As for the Muslim, all of these discussions of earthquakes should prompt us to think about out situation. Just as importantly all this discussion should urge us to look deeply into the aspects of Islam where earthquakes are referred. Most important of all, this topic should force us to contemplate on our preparation for the day of reckoning.

I've heard rumors that before 2004 tsunami, black magic was widely practice by acehnese. They even have a specific street full of bomoh (witchdoctors) houses.

Javanese should re-think about why God want to show his strength in Jogja.

So be prepared.
And I encourage you all to help your bros and sis there, they crying and suffering, they have only a little food to eat, they have lost their houses, they have lost their family, some of them have no one cause all their family are burried. Please help them with all that you can give, theyre our brothes and sisters, theyre muslimin. Yaa Allah, make them syahid yaa Allah, cause your habibi -shalallahu alaihi wasallam- said that someone who dead cause of falling thing is syahid, amin.

If people went to mosque to perform salah, or at least wake up early to perform salah ... casualties can be lower.

With all due respect, hundreds of mosques were destroyed in the Tsunami. I mean, even in Sri Lanka, which has only 10% or so Muslims 97 mosques were destroyed by the Tsunami. There are also many pictures out there, but I will not post them. Even the one in Banda Ache, which I assume you are talking about was quite heavily damaged.

Earthquakes are not getting worse either now, there are not more of them, nor are they getting more powerful, although obviously there are more people to hurt. But the worst earthquake known to man is the one in China in 1556, in which supposedly 830,000 people died. Trust, me human tragedy and natural disaster have always been horrible. People always seem to want to think that the time they are living in surely must be the worst, but I can assure you that droughts and disease were killing by the millions throughout our history.

Let us not presume our religion is the religion of magic. By the way, magic is also haram.

If Allah wills it to happen, it will happen regardless whether we go masjid or not. Let us not also presume the mind of God either, because we are all just His servants.

We can only plan beforehand, pray for the victims and lend out helping hand whenever we can.

To cause Allah to send down one punishment after the other. And still people are blind towards it. I pray Allah has mercy on the souls of the Muslims who died Amin.

If you really want to follow such reasoning, at least do it properly! Then at least wonder why it is the Muslim world that is being hit so hard and not the decadent West!

You wont understand a thing, even you dont understand why you bornth to this world. And Im sure you dont know where you will go when you die later right? What do U think inside those graves? Malls?Supermarkets?These disasters are one of the proves that Allah (Our God, My God, and your God although you dont like it) meant to make Islam better. Cause these disasters will make other muslims do their self introspection better than before. It will make them think that they life in this world for not very long and life here after is the eternal life for muslims. Thats why we have to prepare with a lot of good deeds so we will enter the paradise. And our messenger has told us long time a go that muslims who have suffered by disasters will receive a lot of bless, so they got nothing to lose. Its for their own good. Maybe bad for some but it brings so much goods for the rest of most muslims on earth. That they can be a better muslims, stronger in their life especially their faith. And you kafereen, enjoy your life while you can. I know so many disasters too for non muslims, since atomic boms, wars, earth disasters, etc. But you who still life, you may enjoy it while you can cause when you die, WALLAHI you will be slaughtered in your grave and you will receive even even more in the hell. Cause WHAT? Cause you have egnored your creator's right. He created you by your parents with a wonderful process which full with magic, from flesh to bone and HE MADE you complete and grow bigger. And ALTHOUGH you betrayed Allah (Your GOD U must know) but He still willing to give you food and places to life, and He still save you from something that you dont like, and He still said" Hopefully he will realize and thankfull". I remember the story of our ulama. It was Ibnu Hajar Al Asqolani (if Im not mistaken). He was riding his horse with his clean clothes and with a good smell. And he rode his horse along the road. And then he met this poor kafeer (he is a jewish, (but atheist is worse)),
and then this kafeer la'natullah said to Ibnu Hajar:"You said this world is a prison for muslim. But I see you riding a big nice horse, wearing a clean bright white clothes, and you look handsome".
And then Ibnu Hajar said :"Yes the world is the prison of muslims. You see me now with this condition, its still feels like Im in the prison if compared with the heaven that a muslim will accept from their God. But YOU, you are poor and have a hardlife, but believe me its still feels like HEAVEN for you if compared with the torturing life you will receive in the hell. So enjoy it while you still can".
And then this jewish be muslim with Ibnu Hajar replied thats full with hikmah. So...you must think again to be an atheist, think about your life after death. Cause believe me, like Al Qur'an (muslims hollybook) said[FONT="Comic Sans MS[COLOR="Red"]"]:"Does man think that he will be left uncontrolled, (without purpose)? , Was he not a drop of sperm emitted (in lowly form)? , Then did he become a leech-like clot; then did (Allah) make and fashion (him) in due proportion, And of him He made two sexes, male and female. You should read Qur'an, how can it talked about the creation of the universe, of human, of animals, about the process of the rain, about the space, about the line between the river and the sea that make the river not salty, How can it tells us about them since it was revealed to someone who was unable to read and write, the prophets Muhammad shalallahu alaihi wasallam. And the hollybook (the only holly book on earth) revealed when there wasnt mycroscope and another modern science. So how can it tells us about the creation with an excellent detail. And most of you kafereen who proved the truthness in it with science. Think....youre given a brain to think, do U think its possible a ship, which loaded it self, and go to the sea it self? Do U think its possible? Just this small things you will deny that its impossible for a ship to do that, how can you deny this universe has a creator? Think..before its too late. Read Qur'an. Do U think Allah will show His magic on every masjid? No, He will just show it to someone He want. And if a disaster came to muslims then its a test. But if it come to kafeer/non muslims then its called punishment/adzab. How if you be the one of the victims? :thankyou: Where will you go after you death? Just forgotten just like that? Do U think you will be free after that? :rollseyes :offended:

:sl: its just the same between Indonesia and Malaysia, still have a big morality disaster. And most of earth disaster is not happen beause of our morality only, but its because our dien. If theres syirk, bid'ah and another faults in Islam, then just wait for the turn. Indonesia have more syirk than Malaysia, but Im sure they have similar bid'ahs that they always do. Allahu A'lam. So search for the right path, cause its not enough that you just claim you are a muslim if you want to be the true follower of Rasulullah, cause by only saying that then every false sects in Islam also admit theyre muslim. So what do we have to do to find out what kinda Islam is blessed by Allah? :) Like He mention in Al Fatihah:" Show us the straight way, The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, those whose (portion) is not wrath, and who go not astray. ".....who are they? Do U know? :brother:
 
when people behave to one another, whether good bad, nice evil, happy sad, caring violent, if you dont respond back straight away then the tension falls onto the earth and in the earth aura, this can build up and at some point the earth will respond in its own way to establish the equalibrium.:)

Actually Brother, Dien and Morality goes hand in hand, If one is lacking, then the other is sure to be affected by it. Lack of Dien causes lack of Morality and Lack of Morality is because of the Lack in Dien. It's Worrying actually since it's a phenomenon all over the world now, but the best a Muslim can do is try to follow the right path. And then whatever happens after that Insha'allah he'll be resurrected according to intentions.
