There's a lot of negative threads, so I thought I'd post this. It happened a year ago,so it may already have been mentioned at some point, but Egyptian Christians made a human shield for Muslims whilst they prayed and in turn the Muslims did the same for them.

Maybe we should have more threads about people of different cultures and religions proving that living peacefully together is perfectly possible. A good deeds thread or something? Or a feel good thread! :statisfie Everyone should learn from these good people!

Sadly, tribalism is base to human nature. It is the ugly flip side of empathy. We care for those who we perceive as being like ourselves, and we actually feel their pain. This isn't just psychological but physiological. Look up mirror neurons. Fascinating research. The ugly reverse is that when we stress differences between ourselves and others, and demonize them, the more we can stress how they are not like us, the less we care about them, and we often even come to hate them. It is our team vs their team, our tribe vs their tribe, our religion vs their religion, our country vs their country, us vs them.

glo is on the right track with the emphasis of how we are all human and all have similar problems and priorities. We all want the best for our children and for ourselves. We all want to love and be loved, etc.

Too often religion serves as one of the things to divide us, and to demonize the other, but perhaps it can be used to do the opposite. If we can use religion to put ourselves in a mindset that we humans, all of us, regardless of religion or lack thereof are in a common battle with the "demons" of hatred, tribalism, racism, pride, etc. Turn deadly sins we can all agree on (they need not be the famous 7 deadly sins) and turn those into demons we can all fight in unison. Such a common foe may help us unite as humanity.

Just a thought.

Isn't it proper to elaborate more ,getting the Koranic full context regarding Muslims' relationship with non Muslims?!

the general rule ,is that Muslims and non-muslims should have a coexistence that based on justice and kindness ...

Holy Quran60:8 Allah forbids you not, with regard to those who fight you not for (your) Faith nor drive you out of your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with them: for Allah loveth those who are just.

the exceptions:

1- Those offensive mockers of Islam ,not to be taken as allies ..

Holy Quran 5:57 O you who believe! do not take for guardians those who take your religion for a mockery and a joke, from among those who were given the Book before you and the unbelievers; and be careful of (your duty to) Allah if you are believers.

2- Those who initiate wars against Muslims for their religion:

Holy Quran 5:58 God only forbids you, as regards those who make war against you on account of your Religion and drive you away from your homes, or support others to drive you away, to take them for friends and guardians. Whoever takes them for friends and guardians, those are the wrongdoers.


with the exception of those non muslims ,a Muslim can have anywhere anytime intimate relation with non-muslims ,including not only personal friendship but marriage as well ..

the christian demonstrators above were neither mockers nor waging war against Muslims ,they in the 1919 cooperated with their Muslim brothers in humanity and country to say a strong word against the British imperialism (note the British are Christians as them) ..... few years later the British imperialism began to demolish....

the scene is repeated again ,but this time they cooperated with their Muslim brothers in humanity and country to say a strong word against the corrupted leader (he is a Muslim)... few days later he resigned .....

the more future successes for the country depends on the more they are ready to cooperate....

there are some factors that spoiled somehow the muslim christian coexistence in the 3 last decades (including,the economical situation,some mistaken policies of both the orthodox church and the government,the TV satellite channels and internet sites that incite hatred),but still the majority of both sides ,listen to the sound of reason and peace..

The qu'ran here is talking about the judeo-christian alliance who waged wars on muslims then and today(NATO today). The one who allied themselves with them are doomed until they repent (poor libyans, should they've known)

It's nice that they exist so peacefully, and I hope it continues. In Islam, Christians and Jews are able to live amongst us, so long as they pay a tax for protection. And they (Christians) need to not build statues outside, as it offends Muslims. Similarly, Muslims who think they can't talk to Christians or something are just silly/ But I have seen nothing but peace between the two, alhumdullillah.

الوحدة الوطنية المصرية كانت أساس توحيد مصر قبل أكثر من خمسة آلاف سنة، حين أقام المصريون- رغم تعدد معتقداتهم - أول دولة مركزية وأمة واحدة موحدة فى التاريخ الإنسانى على يد الملك (مينا) عام 3200 ق.م. وأن قبول واحترام الآخر- المختلف دينياً - كان ركيزة الوحدة بين الصعيد والدلتا وهو المعروف تاريخياً باسم " وحدة القطرين" أو "وحدة الأرضين" حيث سُمح ببناء معابد آلهة كل من سكان الصعيد ، وسكان الدلتا على أرض الآخر، بعدها عرف المصريون "الإله الواحد" وعرفوا بأمة التوحيد الأولى فى التاريخ الإنسانى ، وبزغ الضمير البشرى على حد قول المؤرخ المعاصر الكبير "جون برستيد" فى كتابه السفر عن مصر "فجر الضمير" ومع مطلع الرسالات السماوية كانت مصر طرفاً دائماً فى قصة التوحيد بفصولها الثلاثة - وحسب جمال حمدان - كانت لموسى قاعدة ومنطلقاً، ولعيسى ملجأ وملاذاً، بينما كانت مع النبى محمد هدية ونسباً.ففى البداية جاءها إبراهيم أبو الأنبياء عليه السلام، وجاءها يوسف الصديق ومن بعده الأسباط اليهود الأثنى عشر، وولد على أرضها موسى عليه السلام نبى اليهودية، ثم جاءتها العائلة المقدسة وقت أن كان عمر السيد المسيح (عامان)، وقد مرت العائلة بثلاثة مواقع فى شمال سيناء وثمانية عشر موقعاً فى وادى النيل ودلتاه، وزارت وادى النطرون فى الصحراء الغربية، وجبل الطير فى الصحراء الشرقية، وعبرت المجرى الرئيسى لنهر النيل أربع مرات. بعد ذلك دخل مصر "مرقص الرسول" عام 43م، وأسس أول مدرسة لاهوتية مسيحية بالإسكندرية.
قدمت مصر "الرهبنة" هدية منها إلى العالم المسيحى، فالرهبنة تقليد مصرى أصيل ويعد الأنبا أنطونيوس - المصرى الجنسية - أبو الرهبنة فى العالم، وقد ولد عام 251م بقرية قمن العروس مركز الواسطة أسيوط. بعدها انتقلت الرهبنة من مصر إلى فلسطين وبلاد ما بين النهرين وسوريا وإيطاليا وفرنسا وآسيا الوسطى واليونان ثم العالم أجمع.فى عام 642م فتحت مصر أبوابها أمام الدين الإسلامى الحنيف الذى أمن الديار والأملاك ودور العبادة وكفل حرية العقيدة وحرمة الدين. وقد أجمع كل المؤرخين المصريين المسلمين الأوائل مثل ابن عبد الحكم والمقريزى والسخاوى وابن تعزى بروى، والكندى، وابن زولاق، والنويرى، وابن إياس، وجلال الدين السيوطى، وغيرهم الكثير، أجمعوا على وحدة النسيج المصرى الواحد، وأرّخوا جميعاً لوحدة الأمة المصرية ووصفوا أقباط مصر بأنهم أكرم الأعاجم وأسمحهم يداً وأفضلهم عنصراً.
ويمضى بنا تاريخ الوحدة الوطنية المصرية وأرثها الحضارى العظيم حتى نصل إلى الحملة الفرنسية على مصر عام 1798 م حيث فشل نابليون بونابرت فى إثارة النزعة الدينية لدى الأقباط وجعلهم طائفة مختلفة.مع تولى محمد على الحكم عام 1805م كان الميلاد الحقيقى لمبدأ "المواطنة" فى تاريخ مصر الحديث، حيث دحضت الفتنة الطائفية بإلغاء الجزية المفروضة على أهل الذمة (أقباط ويهود) عام 1855م، وصدر قرار بتجنيدهم ودخولهم الجيش أسوة بالمسلمين دون تمييز دينى أو اجتماعى بين كافة المصريين.قام الخديوي إسماعيل بترشيح الأقباط فى مجلس شورى النواب، وكذلك قضاة فى المحاكم، واصبح الأقباط قوة حقيقية لها وزنها وقوامها فى الأمة المصريةومن المعروف أن الاحتلال الانجليزى لمصر عام 1882م اتبع ما يسمى سياسة "فرق تسُد"بين المسلمين والأقباط، وبدأت بالفعل إرهاصات تحويل الأقباط من (ملة دينية) إلى أقلية دينية وسياسية، وحاول الانجليز إدخال "الطائفية" إلى مصر على غرار ما تم ممارسته فى الهند وكان الهدف أن يشعر الأقباط بأن الرابطة الدينية بينهم وبين الانجليز وأوروبا هى أقوى من الرابطة الوطنية بينهم وبين إخوانهم المسلمين شركاء الوطن. وفشل الانجليز فى تحقيق ذلك كما فشل الفرنسيون من قبل، وصارت "المواطنة" قرين الدولة المدنية فى مصر الحديثة، حيث التف المصريون حول قادتهم الوطنيين بعد قرون من الانطواء تحت القيادات الدينية.كانت كتابات الطهطاوى التنويرية وتلاميذه هى بدايات مفهوم المواطنة فى مصر، وعليها سار مفكرو الثورة العرابية وعلى رأسهم عبد الله النديم - خطيب الثورة - حيث قال بوضوح "إن العيش الكريم فى ظل الاستقلال والانتشار الشامل للوطنية، هو أفضل من العيش المهين ولو كان فى ظل ”وحدة العقيدة" وأبرز النديم فى العديد من المقالات والخطب أن الروابط القومية أقوى من الاختلاف فى العقيدة الدينية، وهكذا تحدث النديم عن مصر "الدولة الأمة".على نفس الصعيد جاء البيان الأول للحزب الوطنى فى 4 نوفمبر 1879م لينص على "أن المسلمين والنصارى وجميع من يرث أرض مصر ويتكلم لغتها إخوان وحقوقهم فى الشرائع والسياسة متساوية".ودحض الزعيم مصطفى كامل - مؤسس الحزب الوطنى عام 1907- الفتنة الطائفية حين قال " وما المسلمون المصريون إلا أقباطاً غيروا عقيدتهم .. إذن هل يا ترى تغيير العقيدة يكون بالضرورة تغييراً للدماء"؟ورسخ الأستاذ الإمام محمد عبده فكرة دولة المواطنة المدنية حين أصدر فتواه الفاصلة، والتى تعد من أهم أحكامه على الإطلاق حين قال " علمت أن ليس فى الإسلام سلطة دينية سوى الموعظة الحسنة والتغيير من الشر" وكانت هذه الفتوى بمثابة الحصار المبكر للفكر الطائفى والتيار التكفيرى، وكما كانت السلاح الأساسى فى المعركة التى بدأها الشيخ على عبد الرازق فى كتابه "الإسلام وأصول الحكم" الصادر عام 1925 ضد محاولة الملك فؤاد بدعم من هيئة العلماء والانجليز لنقل الخلافة إلى مصر بعد سقوطها فى تركيا على يد كمال أتاتورك. كما لا تنسى أيضا فى هذه الفترة الشعار الوطنى الكبير الذى أطلقه أستاذ الجيل أحمد لطفى السيد وهو أن"مصر للمصريين".وجاءت ثورة 1919 م ضد الاحتلال الانجليزى لتمثل أزهى أحقاب الوحدة الوطنية والمواطنة والدولة المدنية ودولة الأمة المصرية، أمة عمادها أن الاختلاف فى العقيدة لا يتغير من وحدة العنصر والدم والوجدان المشترك، أمة أسلم فيها من أسلم، وبقى على مسيحيته من بقى، وقد تجلت الوحدة الوطنية فى أروع صورها عندما رفعت الثورة شعار "الدين لله والوطن للجميع" وشعار "يحيا الهلال مع الصليب" كذلك عندما وقف الأب سرجيوس خطيباً على منبر الأزهر الشريف ليقول "ليمت الأقباط وليحي المسلمون أحرارا" وعندما بادله رفيقه الشيخ القاياتى ووقف خطيباً فى الكنائس المصرية.وتستمر تجليات ثورة 1919م فى كشف المعدن الذهبى لهذه الأمة ، فعندما قرر الانجليز نفى سعد زغلول عام 1921 إلى جزيرة سيشل كان البيان الذى أصدره حزب الوفد- احتجاجاً على هذا النفى-، موقعاً من خمسة أفراد ( مسلم واحد وأربعة أقباط). وكان أعضاء الوفد المنفيين ستة أفراد ( أربعة مسلمين واثنان من الأقباط وهما "سينوت حنا" و"مكرم عبيد") كما كان أعضاء الوفد الذين حكم عليهم الانجليز بالإعدام سبعة أفراد منهم 3 مسلمين و4 أقباط .ولا ينسى التاريخ أن الأقباط أنفسهم هم الذين رفضوا مبدأ التمثيل النسبى فى دستور 1923 مثلما رفضوا من قبل حماية قيصر روسيا لهم وحماية اللورد كرومر، وأن قبطياً مصرياً وهو "عريان يوسف" تطوع لاغتيال رئيس الوزراء القبطى المرشح يوسف وهبة عندما خرج عن الجماعة الوطنية وإجماع الأمة المصرية، وقبل رئاسة الحكومة بوازع من الانجليز بينما كان سعد زغلول ورفاقه فى المنفى، خاصة وأن الكنيسة المصرية كانت قد اجتمعت وطالبت يوسف وهبه بعدم قبول رئاسة الحكومة وعدم التفاوض مع لجنة ملنر المعادية للوفد ولشعب مصر.وجاء العصر الحديث بمفكريه العظام رواد حركة الاستنارة والتنوير والداعية إلى حفظ السلم الاجتماعى وقوام الأمة المصرية الواحدة ذات النسيج الواحد من خلال قيام الدولة المدنية، ونذكر منهم على سبيل المثال لا الحصر الطهطاوى والنديم وأحمد لطفى السيد وطه حسين وأحمد شوقى والعقاد وسلامة موسى ووليم سليمان قلادة ومكرم عبيد وأحمد عزت عبد الكريم وجمال حمدان وغيرهم الكثير .. فما أروع من قول المؤرخ والجغرافى الكبير جمال حمدان فى كتابه الفذ "شخصية مصر" بأنه جنس المصريين سابق لتميزهم الدينى، ويقول طه حسين فى كتابه الشهير "مستقبل الثقافة فى مصر" الصادر عام 1938 أن الكنيسة الأرثوذكسية هى مجد مصرى قديم ومقوم من مقومات الوطن المصرى .. وكما يذكر التاريخ بأنها كانت فى فترة الاحتلال الرومانى لمصر (31 ق.م. – 640م) رمزاً للاستقلال القومى المصرى ورمزاً للحفاظ على الشخصية المصرية فى مقابل غياب الاستقلال السياسى الذى كان فى أيدى الرومان.كذلك فإن الأقباط لا يشكلون أقلية عرقية أو سلالية (أثنية) أو لغوية وهو الأمر الذى ميز الشعب المصرى بدرجة عالية من التماسك أو التكامل أو الاندماج الاجتماعى.ويقول طارق البشرى فى كتاب "المسلمون والأقباط فى إطار الجماعة الوطنية" إن الاقتراح الحضارى بين المسلمين والأقباط فى مصر كان المكون الأصيل للمناخ التاريخى والحضارى والاجتماعى والثقافى والنفسى لتبلور المفهوم القومى للجماعة السياسية المصرية.فالمسلمون المصريون ما هم إلا أقباطاً أسلم أجدادهم منذ قرون". وقوله "أن مصر تملك من وحدة الدم والأصل أقصى درجة يمكن أن تحوزها أو تحرزها دولة فى مثل مساحتها وعددها.. فمن الوحدة اللغوية إلى الوحدة الثقافية إلى الوحدة السيكولوجية ، جاء تطور مصر الوطنية .. ووحدة الأصل بين المسلمين والأقباط ليست عملياً إلا تحصيل حاصل ومجرد بديهية، من منطلق أن تكوين مصر العرقى سابق على تكوينها الدينى فالأساس القاعدى لسكان مصر أسبق من المسيحيين بأكثر من 3200 سنة ومن المسيحيين بأكثر من 4000 سنة على أقل تقدير، ويعد الأقباط من صميم الكيان الوطنى المصرى وكتلة رصينة رصيفه من جسم الأمة المصرية شديدة التماسك فيه والالتحام به، والواقع أن مصر لم تنقسم قط داخلياً ولا عرفت التقسيم ولا هى قابلة للقسمة تحت أية ظروف أو ضغوط، وفى نفس السياق يأتى المفكر الكبير مكرم عبيد أحد رواد الوحدة الوطنية المصرية ليقول أن الأقباط "مسلمون وطناً ومسيحيون ديانة".ويرى الفيلسوف الكبير زكى نجيب محمود أن الأمة المصرية مرت بأربع حضارات وهى الآن تعيش الحضارة الخامسة أما الحضارات الأربع فتمثلها المتاحف الأربعة الفرعونى بالقاهرة والرومانى اليونانى بالإسكندرية والمتحف القبطى بالقاهرة، ثم المتحف الإسلامى بالقاهرة .. أما الحضارة الخامسة فهى الحضارة المعاصرة القائمة على الدولة المدنية الحديثة.وعندما يأتى الحديث عن المفكر البارز دكتور "وليم سليمان قلادة" الملقب بفقيه نظرية المواطنة، نراه قد استطاع أن يحدد بامتياز ملامح نظريته المتكاملة عن المواطنة وذلك فى كتابه الرائع "المواطنة" الصادر عام 1999، حيث ترتكز نظريته على أهمية وعى الإنسان مجرد مقيم، يخضع لنظام معين دون أن يشارك فى صنع القرارات داخل هذا النظام، أى أن المواطنة عند قلادة "مشاركة" يرى أن هناك علاقة طردية بين الشعور بالانتماء وبين تمتع المواطن بجميع حقوق المواطنة سواء كانت هذه الحقوق مدنية أو سياسية أو اقتصادية أو اجتماعية.وتأتى كلمة البابا شنودة "أن مصر ليست وطناً نعيش فيه، بل وطن يعيش فينا" كأيقونة مسيحية تجسد فى مثال مبهر نسيج مصر الواحد وعنصرها النقى الأصيل. كما كان الإمام الأكبر الشيخ أحمد الطيب معبراً بنقاء خالص عن تلك الروح المصرية السامية فى قوله أن على المسلمين المصريين حماية الكنائس مثلما يحمون المساجد ويدافعون عنها.

I am not angry at all. I am also neither superficial nor delusional. You can live in your own world of make belief. People who like to work on solutions usually look at a root cause analysis. That way they can fix things not through drones or sickly sweet hypocrisy (which only they seem to buy into) Also this isn't your board I am free to post wherever I please!
