Why has Cordoba Academy decided to conduct this unique retreat?
Cordoba Academy has been conducting retreats worldwide with veteran scholars for the past few years now, but these have all been private affairs for our students in that particular country. Due to the huge demand from our students to conduct a retreat that is open to all, we have decided to launch our first global retreat bringing serious students of knowledge into direct unlabored contact with genuine scholars that have studied at the feet of and inherited knowledge through unbroken chains of narration (asaneed) from hundreds of scholars worldwide.
Other reputable academies charge thousands of dollars excluding airfares. How is it that your retreat costs less than a thousand?
Cordoba Academy is a non-profit organization that has been set up by students of knowledge, for students of knowledge; and we are well aware of the financial difficulties that students treading this sacred path encounter. Consequently, any extra monies that are made after covering costs are put back into covering the costs of the free courses and subsidizing retreats that we offer.
Perhaps, you are charging this extremely low fee because you expect to have 40-60 students attending like other academies and this will bring your costs down?
As advertised, we will not be having a commercial size group; rather we are limiting it to a maximum of 15-20 students with 4 resident scholars attending which would mean the ratio of students per teacher would be 4:1. This will allow for the private scholarly focus and confidential consultations based on individual needs. (mashwara)

Does the fee include international airfares and which airport should we fly into?
The fee does not include international airfares as this varies from country to country so it is the responsibility of the student to check fares and book early. The fee covers all local transport including pick up from Casablanca airport on the 21st December and accommodation as well as one meal per day.
What is the level of difficulty for the timetable of study?
The sacred texts that will be taught will be at the level of the beginner/false beginner and the basic primers in each specialist field will be taught.
What is the daily timetable?
The daily timetable comprises minimum 4-hours of study in a variety of Sacred Sciences including Tajweed, Fiqh (Maliki & Hanafi), Hadith, Seerah and Aqeedah. In addition to this, there will be one daily visit to a person or place of Islamic importance, time for Prophetic sports and therapies, private scholarly consultations, and Qiyam al-Layl (nightly worship).
Is this retreat for men only or can females attend too?
No, we realize that for change to take effect in our households, we must cultivate an understanding of Islam in the current and future mothers of this Ummah. It is for this reason that sisters will be allowed to attend providing that they attend with their mahram/husband who will be in their company for the duration of the journey and that they observe strict hijab. Sisters that wear make-up and/or do not wear cover themselves as they should will not be allowed to attend.
Can children attend?
Due to the nature and intensity of the retreat, we strongly recommend that young children under the age of 7 should not attend so as not to stifle or distract other students attending. If you have a child that must accompany you, please email [email protected] for further information.
Who are the scholars that are confirmed to attend?
The resident scholars who will be accessible by students throughout the sacred journey will be:

The retreat will officially start on Saturday 21st December and free airport pick up will be arranged at 9 AM and 1:30PM from Casablanca Airport. If you fly into another airport or choose to come a day earlier/later you will have to incur the costs involved.
Can I book my plane tickets before you accept me on to the program?
We strongly recommend that you do not make any purchases before you are accepted on to the program as not every student who applies can assume that they will be accepted on to the program without first being screened for suitability.
Is it possible to attend the retreat for a few days only?
Due to the nature and intensity of the program, full attendance is required, however if a student should need to join later or leave earlier then a maximum one day absence will be allowed providing that the student takes responsibility for catching up on the classes missed and does not interfere with the study of colleagues on the retreat.
I am from Nigeria will you provide a visa for me?
CA will not provide visa services for any student attending and it is their responsibility to obtain these from the Moroccan Embassy in their home countries. Morocco employs a very flexible visa policy and students of the following nationalities can receive them upon arrival at no cost.
USA, UK, Singapore, European Union, Turkey and Indonesia.
I cannot afford to pay the fee in one lump sum can you offer a payment plan?
Yes, we can offer a payment plan and the below is an example:
First installment by June 15th $300
Second installment by August 15th $300
Final installment October 15th $399
The fees must be settled by no later than 60 days before the start of the retreat and only students who have completed the fees will be allowed to attend.
What is the total cost of the retreat?
The total cost of the CA Sacred Path Retreat will be $1200 with a generous $201 early bird discount bringing the fee to $999 for all students who apply and send their first installment before June 15th 2013.
I have sent my admission form when will I know if you have accepted me?
We require a maximum of two weeks from the time that you send your application as we may need to check the references you provide and arrange a phone interview with you to check your suitability for the program. If we have problems contacting you or your referees this will delay the process so we request your provide current contact details.
What is the curriculum and itinerary of travel where and whom will we visit?
All students who enroll into the program will receive detailed information about the course of study and itinerary of the Sacred Path Retreat.
If I am unable to join in Morocco this year, will you be repeating this retreat next year?
CA has already started to plan for its retreat in 2014 and it is our intention to change the venue of the retreat every year so that students are exposed to a variety of scholars worldwide as well as the Islamic landmarks and history.
Does Cordoba Academy accept invitations to conduct retreats abroad?
CA and its faculty are regularly invited to participate in lectures and coordinate programs worldwide as many are aware. If you would like to coordinate an activity, please feel free to contact us on [email protected] and we would be glad to help you achieve your Islamic goals.
