Salaam brothers and sisters,

Ramadhan is coming and it'll be the first time I fast, I already fasted without religious purpose in the past and I have no problems with not eating for long periods, but I never stopped drinking water. This summer I'll have to study and I'll have a student job in a shop as a cashier have you any advice for me when study for exemple, and is there a loss of energy or not during Ramadhan? Is it true that you study more easily once you're hungry? Thanks.

Wa Alaykum Assalaam brother,

You may find that at certain times of the day you feel more alert and energetic, so you can try to use these for studying. It may take some time to adjust to the new routine, but with Allah's help it is possible. I have heard that fasting can help with concentration, but you will have to discover this! May Allaah :swt: help you in your studies and to fast for His sake in this noble month, Aameen. Let us know how things go :ia:.

Thanks for your answer, indeed I feel I have more will to study than in normal time, you have to occupy yourself and not to think about water and food lol.

I have another question, I live in Europe and here Maghrib is at 10 PM , Fajr is 3:15 AM Shorook 5:30 AM.

The period of time I can eat is between 10 PM and 3:15 AM right?

Yes brother, the allowed time for eating is from Maghrib until Fajr.

Alhamdulillah it is good you have found a way to study. :)

You can eat from Maghrib (10pm) until the beginning time of Fajr (which is when the true dawn begins). You need to check whether 3:15 is when the time for Fajr begins, or whether it is the time of congregation for Fajr prayer at the Masjid (usually timetables will have both of these times listed).

'...and eat and drink until the white thread (light) of dawn appears to you distinct from the black thread (darkness of night)...' [al-Baqarah 2:187]
