For My Jerusalem
Why do I cry for my Jerusalem?
Where have you gone Furat of paradise?
When will heal these wounds of palestine?
Stand again our fortress, Fight again our citadels
Don't fade as the mist into the night
When will I hear the songs of the bulbul
See promise in the dawn
When will grow the olive trees?
Feel felicity in these dells
Now faded as ghosts in the valleys
Winters of paradise, journeys by night
Shadows beneath the sun
Israa to the shields of heaven
Long ago died as men of honor
The invincible army of God
His messengers in mourning
For the death of history....
