:w: LOL You're so adoreable sis. :D No worries. I understand the Waqooyi dialect a little more to be honest, mostly because the Reer Xamar one is very Italian-influenced.

Yeah the waqooyi accent is influenced a lot by Arabic, mashaAllaah. Like the word millix, for example.

But I don't mind the Italian influence, since I think Italian is a nice language.

(To Amirah) How can that be when Arabic is more coarse then Italian?

Yeah, and did you know the Waqooyi dialect's also influenced by English and a pinch of Hindi too. :hmm:

And hey where'd you get off saying Arabic's more coarse than Italian! :argue: lol I'm so hurt, arabic ain't coarse at all! but, It may sound so if you don't understand it I guess.

assalamu alaykhum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu,

mashallah so many somalians!!

Wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh,

Yeah alhamdulillaah there's quite a few here. :)

Welcome to the forums m123, Hope you have a nice and beneficial stay.

teach me somali plshhhhhhhhhhhhhh?

am irish lol

:sl: Lol naa beenaale, I coulda sworn that you're Soomaali. Be proud of your bariis-eating self. :D

The difference between Waqooyi and Xamari:

Waqooyi: ''Aryee dee walalo xiligan maxaa banaanka uu joogta! Belo!''

Xamari: ''Baabuur aan kuu haayo aboowe''

See, the difference between the two is that Xamaris sound more sweeter (probs cuz of all the macmacaan) and Waqooyi people sound more strong. ;D

waxaan rabaa inaan tago baladkayga inshaa'Allaah and speak fus7aa somali!!

ok see if you can guess what dialects these are:

walaashaydee anee kisto le aan qabaa noh

and

waar naga bayd wax aan ku heeyo ba iska yar, soco!

:sl: First Xamari, second Waqooyi. :D

Inshaa Allaah in a couple of years I plan on buying my parent's a home in Somalia, and visiting there myself. I'm so jealous of some of my friends who've already visited Somalia. :(

Why are you offended, as-Somaaliyyah?:blind: If anyone should be offended, it's moi... coz' you dissed my dialect.

Arabic isn't coarse, but compared to Italian it is a lot more rough seeing as it's a semetic language.

Chill.:hiding:

Anyhoo... anyone noticed how I haven't spoken a word of Somali in here. Care to guess why?

I could attempt to anwer that question but I couldn't do that to ya *smile*
