Some of you may know, some may not, but my grandfather recently passed away due to cancer. It was diagnosed and then 3 weeks later he was gone. I spent everyday taking care of him. It is customary here to have a wake and a funeral. At these little papers are handed out. They are called memorial books. They usually have the dates of birth and death and who the deceased is survived by. Well my grandfather was not a normal man so I thought that there should be something........special in there. So I found this poem. For anyone who has ever lost someone to cancer, I know that you will understand, and hopefully get some peace from it.
God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not to be
so he put his arms around you
and whispered,
"Come to Me"
With tearful eyes we watched you
and saw you pass away
and although we loved you dearly
we could not make you stay.
A Golden heart stopped beating
hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove us
he only takes the best
