Palestine: The Fear of Losing Hope
In the cardiology unit at Al-Shefa Hospital in Gaza City, 57-year-old Ali Ahel suffered from a critical heart arteriosclerosis, high blood pressure, and diabetes, all of which could have led to his death if he was not immediately allowed to transfer out of Gaza and receive a life-saving open heart surgery. Like many others, Ahel was a victim of the ongoing humanitarian crisis facing the population in Palestine.

Doctors at Al-Shefa hospital said Ahel was in very critical condition. If he did not receive the surgery, Ahel, a tailor and sole provider for his family of eleven, would have died.
"For me, I am a father of 10 children, the youngest is six years old, they all require real care, none of my children are working, even the oldest... I don't know what they will do after my death… Only God Almighty will be beside them,” said Ahel, as his eyes filled with tears.
By securing aid in Gaza and receiving donations sent through the Egypt border crossing in Rafah, Islamic Relief has arranged $600,000 of food aid, distributed over $40,000 worth of medical supplies to Gaza’s hospitals, and prepared an additional 10,000 food packages as part of our close to $10 million humanitarian aid appeal.
Your generous and continuous support is needed to help those worst affected by this still ongoing crisis.
Please donate generously.

In the early morning of the 23rd January, over 350,000 Palestinians surged into Egypt from the Gaza Strip after parts of the border wall were destroyed. Hundreds of thousands of Gazans rushed over the border, some frantically searching for loved ones, most desperate for food and fuel, which due to blockades on Gaza’s borders are in short supply. The chaos only highlights the extreme hardship endured by the Palestinian people. Approximately 1.5 million people are living under conditions of siege.
Most are living well below the poverty line of US $2 dollars per day with little access to the basic necessities such as fuel, food, electricity and medicine.Working in partnership with Muslim Aid, Interpal is asking you to make a difference to the lives of those isolated from the world by the conflict. We urgently need help in raising £5 million for the people of Palestine- for food, fuel and medical supplies. One million pounds has already been raised thanks to our emergency relief partners. Despite the difficulties, we pledge to get supplies to those most in need through local partners.
