For young family members, boys go with the father, girls with the member. If only one parent is attending, and they're not Islamically mature, they just go with whichever parent is going. If they are mature, then see if they can have a group of friends go with them. I think if they're 13 or so, and their mother or father isn't with them, they would love being with their friends at a big event. And give 'em a cell phone if they need it...

I don't entirely place the blame on them. I understand the brothers and sisters had a choice to do the appropriate thing. Seeing that they failed, action needs to be taken for next time inshaAllah.

Actually their is similar issue's going on the IslamChannel forum (I am not a posting member):
Their are some interesting discussion and opinions some participant and Volunteer's. It will probably help us get a better Idea since we don't all have the first hand experience.

sis labibah hit the nail right on the head there, i was just gonna say that but u took the words from my mouth.

its something so obvious as thats what happens at most events, the boys with their dads n girls with their mums etc, u dnt need to be a rocket scientist to organise that.

and yes the organisers are to blame because they facilitated mixing by making it easy for the ppl to mix i.e family section aka men and women sittin together. wateva haram came from the mixing will be on their heads. my husband was the head of new muslim project sheffield and this issue came up countless number of times because some of the shura members wanted to let the new muslims bring their non muslim family members bla bla bla, cant be bothered to explain the whole story.

How many people took shahadah...Was it 11 or 10 people? I don't quite remember....

Personally I've never seen that many Muslims in the same place in London ever.

Surely there's always room for improvement. :)

salaams bro, alhumdulillah thats great, but what kind of islam are they being introduced to? lets hope inshallah that they didnt think mixing and music is halal. may allah swt guide them on to the right path ameen.

Wa Aleykum Salam Wa Rahmetulahi Wa Berekatu,

I agree, insha'Allah the Islaam that they will aquire will be good, but what I was saying sister is that we shouldn't make du'a that the event does not happen but just that it fixes up, because in honesty, ok those people may not have the best understanding after embracing Islaam, but inshaAllah, Allah will forgive everything other than Shirk, so at least that is out of the way.

bro isa, i still dnt agree with such events, yes even tho ppl may start practicing from attending it! alot of ppl start practicing islam after listening to so called islamic nasheeds which have music in them, this doesnt make it halal. alot of ppl start practicing after they start going out with a "muslim" girl or guy but this doesnt make it halal etc, do u get where im coming from?

Of course, I know what you mean, just like its not right to build a pub so the person can earn money for chairity. I agree, I think there should be drastic changes, but I don't think it should be totally abolished.

in islam we are told to protect our selves wen giving dawah and naseeha, and allah swt ses in the quran that there is no obedience to the creation wen its in disobedience to the creator. its my favorite quote i think.

Yes, and I heard other speakers were there but I dont know if they mentioned anything about Music being haram, but think about it, what disrespect.

Picture this:

Someone complains "oh brothers you should tolerate them and their view because there is disagreement on music"

Rather, Muslims who hold Music to be halal should be tolerant and not force that upon others. Imagine a family who thinks Music is haram sitting in the audience, only to find Music then be played! How intolerant is that, rather those who played Music could have for one day AT LEAST not used musical instruments, for the love and sake of those Muslims in that Hall that believed that to be haram. :(

firstly some one who misinterprets and changed hadith n fabricates them does not in my opinion have the right to be called a scholar. ill get my husband dawud to post u some stuff on the naqshaband tareeqah perhaps ull understand more wer im coming from.

Thanks, and yes a scholar should be of right aqeedah and sound character at least.

im so extremely more just grrrr angry about the event because my mate foned me who helped with the event n sed it was a big disapointment because the mixing was atrocious, absolutly dire, bros n sisters were talking to eachother and laughing and joking with eachother, she was talkin about bros n sis doing collections talking with oposite genders! also she sed that yusuf islam came on stage n started saying music is halal n sed some other stuff as to why it is saying stuff like they take our coffee so we can take their intruments bla bla bla.

she also sed that the lectures werent very beneficial because it wasnt like a proper talk talk on islam, it was more just discussing general topics such as politics! hmm i wonder what the new to practicing bros n sis thought of that!

what annoys me is that sooooooo many non muslims will have been there and ppl who are non practicing or starting to practice and because of the organisers letting yusuf islam do his thing n saying its halal, so many of those ppl will have been misguided, and whose head will it be on? yusuf islam AND the organisers who let him do his thang! these ppl are gonna go home n tell their friends n family, guess what music is halal cuz yusuf islam sed so at a big time "islamic" conference so hes bound to be correct. grrrrr it makes my blood boil.

for crying out loud, how dumb do u have to be, u know music is a contraversial issue (altho its black n white, u dnt have to be a rocket scientist to work out what the prophet saw meant in the hadith regarding music) so whyyyyyyyy oh whyyyy make other ppl listen to the music, atleast respect their opinions and not have ur guitar playing, thats not very respectful, because ur pushing ur haram views on thousands of other ppl and ur subjecting them to fitnah and haram!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! may allah swt guide the bro seriously. ameen

May Allah guide me and us all!!

I see your point...It all comes down to intention....If the intention was right, but a mistake was made then I don't think we should say that, it's like saying a judge should lose his job because he didn't agree with your opinion.

Looking forward to the posts by brother Dawud.

i wasnt saying that, so ur analogy is not valid, i was talkin about those sheikhs who blatently go against the quran and sunnah by saying things like "we should love america cuz god loves america and may god bless america" n "music is halal" or "its ok to worship this dead saint" etc etc, those sheikhs are just sell outs.

i meant ill get dawud to pm the bro about the stuff but ill get him to pm u as well inshallah, however theres hoards n hoard of info on it.
