Good English Translation

Just wondering if there are preferred (American) English translations over other English translations of the Qur'an? Just trying to find one that is as accurate to the Arabic one as possible. Thanks and sorry if this is a repost.
 
If you want to get copy of Audio Quran with English translation so there are many resources available on internet. I think there is not more difference in American English and British English translation of Quran and that are almost same. Try to search on Google and YouTube to find american English translation of Quran.

Yusuf Ali is good, but the language is a little archaic at times. Still, I've read enough Shakespeare to be able to sort it out.

I got a copy from a brother that is published by the Book of Signs Foundation. It's my favorite version that I have read through so far.

Abdullah Yusuf Ali is the best, it's said to be most closest to its Arabic. hope this helps
 
i stick with yusuf ali and picktall, they both have less opinionated brackets,
yusuf ali sis the easier to read of the two due to it's flow and rythm,
but i found picktall to be nearest to the exact words,
he even keeps the words in the right order when possible, despite it being arabic to english

here's a great translation you can get for $10, make sure to get the hard bound as it more durable than the soft [it MIGHT be different too, but my memory escapes me.]

most early English translations are based on Pickthall, unlike others, i can't stand Yusuf Ali, mainly because his notes reference philosophy too much and he reads like Shakespeare - sort of the "King James" of Qurans.

get it, it is Arabic and English, but it is more paragraph by paragraph than ayat by ayat. this gives you a more flowing Arabic and makes the English easier to comprehend. the translation is Pickthall. alot of Muslim stores have a dvd-r copy for about $10.

English doesn't really suffice to translate Arabic as Quranic Arabic is about the most pure and dynamic language in existance, after all, IT IS the Words of Allah. the 1st translation i posted is the easiest and quickest to read. after that, you should read others and find a good tafseer and more expensive translations that provide a little tafseer.

Muhksin Khan is a nice translation, but you can get a bit lost with all of the inserted parenthesis':

Yusuf Ali is easier to understand compared to others in my opinion but I do like Mohsin Khan's translation too
 
I believe the disagreement on yusuf Ali stems from the original he wrote in old English, but the revised modern English ones are really easy to read.
If u are in the uk, u can get them free from idci, Islamic dawah centre international, google it,
Of you are ok paying though, consider buying a few to hand out to friends, it helps them print more.
 
you can download the Jusuf Ali's "Holy Qur'an" in ebook version if you want, for free. just look up on Google. I think I want to seek free download for Picktall's too :)
