Does anyone know how long it will take for my posted threads to show up? I posted two threads on the Qur'an quite a time ago now. Thanks

Ah, thank you. I know how busy forums can get.Fastest is around 24 hours, but it seems it is a busy time for the moderators.
Peace to you too MuslimWoman and thank you. I'm reading an English, translated copy of the Qur'an right now and a translated Tafseer (I think it's called). But I understand that some of the beauty is lost in the translation.
Thank you Naidamar, I pray too that I may be guided to the right path. : )
hey fellow Canadian,
welcome. Would like to mention what university you took the course on Islam at? McGill?
Welcome to the board hope you find your answers here, feel free to question away
one word of advice you said you're reading 'Tarif Khalidi's' translation of quran, I've never heard of it but usually we recommend people read the more well known translations such as by marmaduke pickthall, yusuf ali and muhsin khan
you can read them here at www.Quran.com
peace
Hello, thank you.
Canada is a sovereign nation of British and French peoples. We fought a war against America to maintain our freedom. We accept all cultures and peoples and have always provided free healthcare for them. Canadians place great emphasis on manners and social propriety. We've invented everything from radios to televisions to telephones, medical vaccines and even the zipper. We are not American.

nup. Reginald fessenden had over 100 patents on the television in north america by 1919, building on the works of perskyi, lee de forest and campbell swinton. Farnsworth just made it accessible to the american populace (like ford).
You're thinking of simple, telegraph radio (beep beep, beep messages). It was recently discovered marconi actually stole nikola tesla's ideas.
The process of vaccination was actually first used in ancient china and iran. Jenner was the first person to extract and "inject" infected pus in a person. Canada universalized the vaccine. My bad. : )
judson came up with the idea of a zipper. Gideon sundback (canadian) realized his idea would never work the way it was and designed the zipper you and i know today.
I'm a history major.. I know these things. :d
*dislike wikipedia* It's okay for some stuff though.lol ok ok u got meee haha ughhh **** wikipedia **** it lool
Welcome to the forum! I almost was a history major, but I went to a school where a distant relative of mine was a famous historian, so there was too much pressure to succeed I did political science and religious studies instead, which I'd venture to guess is equally as useless as a history major outside of college
I'll do my obligatory reference to my helpful links for newbies -http://umms.wordpress.com/converts/ - I actually drew it up with converts in mind, but it does have a lot of good resources for those interested in learning more about islam as well
re: quran translation, I have a ton that I love. It's actually my goal to collect every english translation ever done. For simple ease of reading, I like the Bewley translation. For quran + commentary, I like Ali Unal and Muhammad Asad.
#1 most important life saving discovery in the history of mankind! Not to mention that insulin was discovered in Canada
