When you mention states like Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, etc as being some kind of "redneck" haven for insane gun wielding maniacs, you fail to understand a basic reality of this area in the country. Large cities aside, as Woodrow mentioned, these states have many issues with wild animals, those people being farmers, ranchers, and the average citizen who simply lives in the middle of nowhere. I know it is hard for some people who have lived in large cities their entire lives to understand where the gun culture in the South and the plains states comes from. Having been both a Texan and an Okie, the so-called "gun culture" is just the way I was raised. For the most part, people here in this area have respect and understanding of proper firearm use, so the stereotype of the drunken hillbilly with a shotgun spraying the countryside with buckshot is funny but unrealistic.

I HATE GUNS! They are for lazy people. Why workout, when all you need to defend your self is a gun? Also, studies show that when a gun is in a room, it triggers aggression.

Exactly.

I don't condone the use of guns, however if you in a ghetto, and the cops are corrupt and gangs roam the streets, and you can't afford to move, don't you have the right to defense?

And plus, where I live, 93% of households carry guns, is it safe for my family to go without protection?

"Half of all US murders are committed with handguns and that handguns in homes are far more likely to kill household members than intruders."....also from Social Psych If you look at gun murder rates, the countries that allow guns have extremely higher rates.

Yeah. But if my family sets the "good" example, and say an intruder hits the house a week later, what then? Most of my neighbors are hostile people, with one as the exception, but he moved last October, so I can't ask my neighbors for protection. Best I keep my gun and not be an example...for a crime.
 
I think this should be put into perspective

America now has become a warzone, ..what with all the driveby shootings etc..and some places being a nogo zone..there ought to be Guncontrol.

However if you're a redneck and live in one of those remote places and you want to hunt ducks or rabbits or whatever i think thats okay..as long as you use your weapon responsibly.. correct me if Im wrong but didnt **** Cheney kill his hunting buddy?
 
Either every1 has a gun or no one has a gun. Its not fair that a selected few have guns and are able to abuse its power.

Cheney shot his friend in the face with bird shot, which while painful I'm sure, isn't life threatening. Can't really call it hunting either, since the ranch they were "hunting" at keeps the birds in cages and releases them before the "hunt."
People who live outside of major cities are all rednecks to you? lol

Weird looking rascal. Years ago I had one that looked identical it was an Argentina Boitus chambered for .455 long Colt, but could be used illegaly with .410 Shotgun shells.
