As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu

27th Ramadan 1435 (25th July 2014)

Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) used to practise Itikaf in
the last ten days of the month of Ramadan.

Narrated 'Aisha (Radi-Allahu 'anha):

The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) used to (put) bend his head
(out) to me while he was in Itikaf in the mosque during my monthly periods
and I would comb and oil his hair.

29th Ramadan 1435 (27th July 2014)

Narrated Abu Huraira (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) used to perform Itikaf every
year in the month of Ramadan for ten days, and when it was the year of his
death, he stayed in Itikaf for twenty days.

Narrated 'Abdullah (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, "Anyone who dies
worshipping others along with Allah will definitely enter the Fire." I
said, "Anyone who dies worshipping none along with Allah will definitely
enter Paradise."

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah[SAWW](PBUH) said, Hazrat Ibn Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) enjoined the payment of one Sa’ of dates or one Sa’ of barley as Zakat-ul-Fitr on every Muslim slave or free, male or female, young or old, and he ordered that it be paid before the people went out to offer the Eid prayer. (One Sa’ = 3 Kilograms approx.)

Narrated Anas bin Malik (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) passed by a woman who was
sitting and weeping beside a grave and said to her, "Fear Allah and be
patient."

Hazrat Anas bin Malik (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) never proceeded (for the prayer) on the Day of ‘Id-ul-Fitr unless he had eaten some dates. Hazrat Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) also narrated: The Prophet [SAWW](PBUH) used to eat odd number of dates.

Narrated Zainab bint Abi Salama (Radi-Allahu 'anha):

When the news of the death of Abu Sufyan reached from Sham, Um Habiba on
the third day, asked for a yellow perfume and scented her cheeks and
forearms and said, "No doubt, I would not have been in need of this, had I
not heard the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) saying: "It is not
legal for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to mourn for more
than three days for any dead person except her husband, for whom she should
mourn for four months and ten days."

Hazrat Buraidah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "That which differentiates us from the disbelievers and hypocrites is our performance of Salat. He who abandons it, becomes a disbeliever.”

5th Shawwal 1435 (1st August 2014)

Narrated Anas bin Malik (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) passed by a woman who was
weeping beside a grave. He told her to fear Allah and be patient.

She said
to him, "Go away, for you have not been afflicted with a calamity like
mine." And she did not recognize him. Then she was informed that he was the
Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam). so she went to the house of the
Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) and there she did not find any
guard.

Then she said to him, "I did not recognize you." He said, "Verily,

the patience is at the first stroke of a calamity."

Reported by Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-As (RA): The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Convey from me even an Ayah of the Qur’an.”

the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, "He who slaps his cheeks,
tears his clothes and follows the ways and traditions of the Days of
Ignorance is not one of us."

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):


Sad bin 'Ubada became sick and the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam)
along with 'Abdur Rahman bin 'Auf, Sad bin Abi Waqqas and 'Abdullah bin
Masud visited him to enquire about his health.






When he came to him, he
found him surrounded by his household and he asked, "Has he died?" They
said, "No, O Allah's Apostle."


The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam)
wept and when the people saw the weeping of Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu
'Alaihi Wa Sallam) they all wept. He said, "Will you listen? Allah does not
punish for shedding tears, nor for the grief of the heart but he punishes
or bestows His Mercy because of this."






He pointed to his tongue and added,
"The deceased is punished for the wailing of his relatives over him." 'Umar
used to beat with a stick and throw stones and put dust over the faces (of
those who used to wail over the dead).

Hazrat Zaid bin Arqam (May Allah be pleased with him) "One day Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) stood up to deliver a Khutbah at a watering place known as Khumm between Makkah and Al-Madinah. He praised Allah, extolled Him, and exhorted (us) and said, `Amma Ba`du. O people, I am a human being. I am about to receive a messenger (the angel of death) from my Rubb and I will respond to Allah’s Call, but I am leaving with you two weighty things: the first is the Book of Allah, in which there is right guidance and light, so hold fast to the Book of Allah and adhere to it.’ He exhorted (us to hold fast) to the Book of Allah and then said, `The second is the members of my household, I remind you (to be kind) to the members of my family. I remind you (to be kind) to the members of my family.

[Muslim Book 31, Chapter 04, Hadith # 5920]

Another narration is: Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "I am leaving behind me two weighty things. One of them is the Book of Allah (Al-Quran); that is the strong rope of Allah. Whosoever holds firmly to it, will be the guided, and whosoever leaves it goes astray".

8th Shawwal 1435 (4th August 2014)

Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

A funeral procession passed in front of us and the Prophet (Sallallahu
'Alaihi Wa Sallam) stood up and we too stood up. We said, 'O Allah's
Apostle! This is the funeral procession of a Jew." He said, "Whenever you
see a funeral procession, you should stand up."

Reported by Abu Umamah (RA): I heard Messenger of Allah (PBUH) during the sermon of the Farewell Pilgrimage saying, “Be mindful of your duty to Allah; perform your five daily Salat, observe Saum during the month (of Ramadan), pay the Zakat on your properties and obey your leaders; (if you do so) you will enter the Jannah of your Rab”.

Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, "When the funeral is
ready and the men carry it on their shoulders, if the deceased was
righteous it will say, 'Present me (hurriedly),' and if he was not
righteous, it will say, 'Woe to it (me)! Where are they taking it (me)?'


Its voice is heard by everything except man and if he heard it he would
fall unconscious."

The Prophet (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said:

"Indeed the grave is the first stage among the stages of the Hereafter. So if one is saved from it, then what comes after it is easier than it. And if one is not saved from it, then what comes after it is worse than it." And the Prophet PBUH said: "I have not seen any sight except that the grave is more horrible than it"

Reported by Abu Hurairah (RA): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, “The angels supplicate in favour of one of you so long as he remains in the place where he has performed Salat (prayer) in a state of Wudu’. They (the angels) say: O Allah! Forgive him, O Allah! Have mercy on him.”’

11th Shawwal 1435 (7th August 2014)

Narrated Ibn Abbas (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) once passed by two graves, and
those two persons (in the graves) were being tortured. He said, "They are
being tortured not for a great thing (to avoid). One of them never saved
himself from being soiled with his urine, while the other was going about
with calumnies (to make enmity between friends). He then took a green leaf
of a date-palm tree split it into two pieces and fixed one on each grave.


The people said, "O Allah's Apostle! Why have you done so?" He replied, "I
hope that their punishment may be lessened till they (the leaf) become
dry."
