Fasting -

Narrated Abu Juhaifa (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) made a bond of brotherhood between Salman and Abu Ad-Darda.'

Salman paid a visit to Abu Ad-Darda' and
found Um Ad-Darda' dressed in shabby clothes and asked her why she was in that state. She replied, "Your brother Abu Ad-Darda' is not interested in (the luxuries of) this world."

In the meantime Abu Ad-Darda' came and
prepared a meal for Salman. Salman requested Abu Ad-Darda' to eat (with
him), but Abu Ad-Darda' said, "I am fasting." Salman said, "I am not going
to eat unless you eat." So, Abu Ad-Darda' ate(with Salman). When it was
night and (a part of the night passed), Abu Ad-Darda' got up (to offer the
night prayer), but Salman told him to sleep and Abu Ad-Darda' slept. After
sometime Abu Ad-Darda' again got up but Salman told him to sleep. When it
was the last hours of the night, Salman told him to get up then, and both
of them offered the prayer.

Salman told Abu Ad-Darda', "Your Lord has a
right on you, your soul has a right on you, and your family has a right on
you; so you should give the rights of all those who has a right on you."
Abu Ad-Darda' came to the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) and
narrated the whole story. The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said,
"Salman has spoken the truth."

Praying at Night (Taraweeh) -

Narrated Abu Huraira (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, "Whoever fasted the month
of Ramadan out of sincere Faith (i.e. belief) and hoping for a reward from
Allah, then all his past sins will be forgiven, and whoever stood for the
prayers in the night of Qadr out of sincere Faith and hoping for a reward
from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven ."

Praying at Night (Taraweeh) -

Narrated Aisha (Radi-Allahu 'anha):

With the start of the last ten days of Ramadan, the Prophet (Sallallahu
'Alaihi Wa Sallam) used to tighten his waist belt (i.e. work hard) and used
to pray all the night, and used to keep his family awake for the prayers.

Praying at Night (Taraweeh) -

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) used to practice Itikaf (in
the mosque) in the middle third of Ramadan and after passing the twenty
nights he used to go back to his house on the 21st, and the people who were
in Itikaf with him also used to go back to their houses. Once in Ramadan,
in which he practiced Itikaf, he established the night prayers at the night
in which he used to return home, and then he addressed the people and
ordered them whatever Allah wished him to order and said, "I used to
practice Itikaf for these ten days (i.e. the middle 3rd but now I intend to
stay in Itikaf for the last ten days (of the month); so whoever was in
Itikaf with me should stay at his place of seclusion.

I have verily been
shown (the date of) this Night (of Qadr) but I have forgotten it. So search
for it in the odd nights of the last ten days (of this month). I also saw
myself (in the dream) prostrating in mud and water." On the night of the
21st, the sky was covered with clouds and it rained, and the rain-water
started leaking through the roof of the mosque at the praying place of the
Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam).

I saw with my own eyes the Prophet
(Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) at the completion of the morning prayer
leaving with his face covered with mud and water.

Retiring to a Mosque for Remembrance of Allah (I'tikaf) -

Narrated Ali bin Al-Husain (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

Safiya, the wife of the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) told me that
she went to Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) to visit him in
the mosque while he was in Itikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan. She had
a talk with him for a while, then she got up in order to return home. The
Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) accompanied her.

When they reached
the gate of the mosque, opposite the door of Um-Salama, two Ansari men were
passing by and they greeted Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam).
He told them: Do not run away! And said, "She is (my wife) Safiya bint
Huyai."
Both of them said, "Subhan Allah, (How dare we think of any evil) O
Allah's Apostle!" And they felt it.

The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa
Sallam) said (to them), "Satan reaches everywhere in the human body as
blood reaches in it, (everywhere in one's body). I was afraid lest Satan
might insert an evil thought in your minds."

Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) never proceeded (for the
prayer) on the Day of 'Id-ul-Fitr unless he had eaten some dates. Anas also
narrated: The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) used to eat odd number
of dates.

A Beautiful Du'a From Only 2 Words

The Prophet -PBUH- Taught It To His Uncle AL-Abbas

Abul-Fadl Al-`Abbas bin `Abdul-Muttalib (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I asked the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) to teach me a supplication. He (PBUH) said, "Beg Allah for safety (from all evils in this world and in the Hereafter).'' I waited for some days and then I went to him again and asked him: "O Messenger of Allah Teach me to supplicate something from Allah.'' He said to me, "O Al-`Abbas, the uncle of Messenger of Allah! Beseech Allah to give you safety (Al-a'fiyah ) in this life and in the Hereafter.''[At-Tirmidhi].

Commentary: The prayer for "Al-a' fiyah'' includes peace and safety of one's religion and one's welfare in this world as well as in the Hereafter. This is also a very comprehensive prayer

May ALLAH -swt- Grant us Wellness. Aameen

Virtues of the Prophet (PBUH) and Companions -
Narrated Abu Huraira (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, "A man used to give
loans to the people and used to say to his servant, 'If the debtor is poor,
forgive him, so that Allah may forgive us.'" So when he met Allah (after
his death), Allah forgave him."

Prophetic (PBUH) Commentary on the Qur'an - Narrated 'Abdullah (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

I or somebody, asked Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) "Which
is the biggest sin in the Sight of Allah?" He said, "That you set up a
rival (in worship) to Allah though He Alone created you."

I asked, "What is next?" He said, "Then, that you kill your son, being afraid that he may
share your meals with you."

I asked, "What is next?" He said, "That you
commit illegal sexual intercourse with the wife of your neighbour." Then
the following Verse was revealed to confirm the statement of Allah's
Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam):

"Those who invoke not with Allah, any other god, nor kill life as Allah has
forbidden except for just cause, nor commit illegal sexual intercourse."

Salaam

The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, "Moses argued with Adam and said to him (Adam), "You are the one who got the people out of Paradise by your sin, and thus made them miserable."

Adam replied, "O Moses! You are the one whom Allah selected for His Message and for His direct talk.
Yet you blame me for a thing which Allah had ordained for me before He created me?"

Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) further said, "So Adam overcame Moses by this Argument."

Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) was presented with two cups
one containing wine and the other milk on the night of his night journey at
Jerusalem. He looked at it and took the milk.

Gabriel said, "Thanks to Allah Who guided you to the Fitra (i.e. Islam); if you had taken the wine,
your followers would have gone astray."

Prophetic (PBUH) Commentary on the Qur'an - Narrated Aisha (Radi-Allahu 'anha):

The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) used to offer prayer at night
(for such a long time) that his feet used to crack. I said, "O Allah's
Apostle! Why do you do it since Allah has forgiven you your faults of the
past and those to follow?" He said, "Shouldn't I love to be a thankful
slave (of Allah)?' When he became old, he prayed while sitting, but if he
wanted to perform a bowing, he wound get up, recite (some other verses) and
then perform the bowing.

Prophetic (PBUH) Commentary on the Qur'an -
March 2011)

Narrated 'Aisha (Radi-Allahu 'anha):

(the wife of the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam)), I never saw Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) laughing loudly enough to enable me to see his uvula, but he used to smile only. And whenever he saw clouds or winds, signs of deep concern would appear on his face.

I said, "O Allah's Apostle! When people see clouds they usually feel happy, hoping that it would rain, while I see that when you see clouds, one could notice signs of dissatisfaction on your face."

He said, "O 'Aisha! What is the guarantee for me that there will be no punishment in it, since some people were punished with a wind?

Verily, some people saw (received) the punishment, but (while seeing the cloud) they said, 'This cloud will give us rain.' "

Prophetic (PBUH) Commentary on the Qur'an - Narrated Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-As (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

This Verse:

'Verily We have sent you (O Muhammad) as a witness, as a bringer of glad
tidings and as a warner.' (48.8)

Which is in the Qur'an, appears in the Surah thus: 'Verily We have sent you
(O Muhammad) as a witness, as a bringer of glad tidings and as a warner,
and as a protector for the illiterates (i.e. the Arabs.)

You are my slave
and My Apostle, and I have named you Al-Mutawakkil (one who depends upon
Allah).

You are neither hard-hearted nor of fierce character, nor one who
shouts in the markets. You do not return evil for evil, but excuse and
forgive. Allah will not take you unto Him till He guides through you a
crocked (curved) nation on the right path by causing them to say: "None has
the right to be worshipped but Allah." With such a statement He will cause
to open blind eyes, deaf ears and hardened hearts.'
