'Abdur-Rahman bin Abi-Bakrah (RA) narrated from his father that a man said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Which of the people is the best?" He said: "He whose life is long and his deeds are good." He said: "Then which of the people is the worst?" He said: "He whose life is long and his deeds are bad."

(Jami`at-Tirmidhi, Book 36, Hadith 27)

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr (RA): A man asked the Prophet (peace be upon him), "What Islamic traits are the best?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Feed the people, and greet those whom you know and those whom you do not know."

Narrated Abu Huraira (RA): The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "If Allah loves a person, He calls Gabriel saying: 'Allah loves so and so; O Gabriel, love him.' Gabriel would love him, and then Gabriel would make an announcement among the residents of the Heaven, 'Allah loves so-and-so, therefore, you should love him also.' So, all the residents of the Heavens would love him and then he is granted the pleasure of the people of the earth."

(Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 8, Book 78, Hadith 70)

Narrated Abu Huraira (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, "A man felt very thirsty
while he was on the way, there he came across a well. He went down the
well, quenched his thirst and came out. Meanwhile he saw a dog panting and
licking mud because of excessive thirst. He said to himself, "This dog is
suffering from thirst as I did."

So, he went down the well again and filled
his shoe with water and watered it. Allah thanked him for that deed and
forgave him. The people said, "O Allah's Apostle! Is there a reward for us
in serving the animals?" He (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) replied: "Yes,
there is a reward for serving any animate (living being)." (See Hadith No.

Narrated Ibn `Umar (RA): The Prophet (pace be upon him) said, "Your example and the example of the people of the two Scriptures (i.e. Jews and Christians) is like the example of a man who employed some laborers and asked them, 'Who will work for me from morning till midday for one Qirat?' The Jews accepted and carried out the work. He then asked, Who will work for me from midday up to the `Asr prayer for one Qirat?' The Christians accepted and fulfilled the work. He then said, 'Who will work for me from the `Asr till sunset for two Qirats?' You, Muslims have accepted the offer. The Jews and the Christians got angry and said, 'Why should we work more and get lesser wages?' (Allah) said, 'Have I withheld part of your right?' They replied in the negative. He said, 'It is My Blessing, I bestow upon whomever I wish.'

(Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 3, Book 37, Hadith 8)

Narrated Abu Dhar (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

I asked the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam), "What is the best
deed?" He replied, "To believe in Allah and to fight for His Cause." I then

master."

I said, "If I cannot afford to do that?" He said, "Help the weak

do that?" He said, "Refrain from harming others for this will be regarded
as a charitable deed for your own good."
