what is oath Al Ghamus?

[h=2]Hadith Explanation[/h]
[h=3]The Dipping[/h]
Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “The biggest sins are: To join others in worship with Allah; to be undutiful to one’s parents; to kill somebody unlawfully; and to take an Al-Ghamus oath.” [Sahih Bukhari]

Look at the things which have been put together as the biggest sins: shirk, neglecting parents, murder, and lying through oaths. An al-Ghamus oath is the false oath taken intentionally with which one intends to mislead people. Such an oath cannot be expiated, and the one who takes it will be dipped into Hell-Fire. Hence comes the term “Al-Ghamus,” meaning, “the dipping.”

Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) says: “And make not your oaths a means of deception amongst yourselves, lest a foot may slip after being firmly planted.” [The Quran 16:94]

sorcery; to kill the life which Allah has forbidden except for a just cause

of an orphan; to give one's back to the enemy and fleeing from the
battle-field at the time of fighting and to accuse chaste women who never

Muslim Book 43, Number 7161:
Hisham reported on the authority of his father that 'A'isha said in connection with His (Allah's) words: "And whoever is poor let him take reasonably (out of it)" that it was revealed in connection with the custodian of the property of an orphan, who is in charge of her and looks after her; In case he is poor, he is allowed to eat out of that.

Hadith Qudsi 40:
On the authority of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
Allah will say to the inhabitant of Paradise: O inhabitants of Paradise! They will say: O our Lord, we present ourselves and are at Your pleasure, and goodness rests in Your hands. Then He will say: Are you contented? And they will say: And how should we not be contented, O Lord, when You have given to us that which You have given to no one else of Your creation? Then He will say: Would not like Me to give you something better than that? And they will say: O Lord and what thing is better than that? And He will say: I shall cause My favour to descend upon you and thereafter shall never be displeased with you.

It was related by al-Bukhari (also by Muslim and at-Tirmidhi).

Bukhari Volume 2, Book 21, Number 227:
Narrated 'Ali bin Abi Talib

One night Allah's Apostle came to me and Fatima, the daughter of the Prophet and asked, "Won't you pray (at night)?" I said, "O Allah's Apostle! Our souls are in the hands of Allah and if He wants us to get up He will make us get up." When I said that, he left us without saying anything and I heard that he was hitting his thigh and saying, "But man is more quarrelsome than anything." (18.54)
