Hazrat Masruq (May Allah be pleased with him) said: We visited `Abdullah bin Masud (May Allah be pleased with him) and he said to us: O people! He who has the knowledge of any matter may convey it to the others. And he who has no knowledge, thereof, should say: "Allahu a`lam (Allah knows better).” It is a part and parcel of knowledge that a man who has no knowledge of a matter should say: "Allah knows better.” Allah said to His Prophet [SAWW](PBUH): "Say (O Muhammad [SAWW](PBUH)): `No wage do I ask of you for this (the Qur’an), nor am I one of the Mutakallifun (those who pretend and fabricate things which do not exist).”’ (38:86)

Narrated Khalid bin Sad (Radi-Allahu 'anhum):

We went out and Ghalib bin Abjar was accompanying us. He fell ill on the way and when we arrived at Medina he was still sick.

Ibn Abi 'Atiq came to visit him and said to us, "Treat him with black cumin.

Take five or seven seeds and crush them (mix the powder with oil) and drop the resulting mixture into both nostrils, for 'Aisha (Radi-Allahu 'anha) has narrated to me that she heard the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) saying, 'This black cumin is healing for all diseases except As-Sam.'

Aisha (Radi-Allahu 'anha) said, 'What is As-Sam?'

He said, 'Death."

Hazrat Abdullah bin Masud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Never a Prophet had been sent before me by Allah to his people but he had, among his people, (his) disciples and companions, who followed his ways and obeyed his command. Then there came after them their successors who proclaimed what they did not practise, and practised what they were not commanded to do. And (he) who strove against them with his hand is a believer; he who strove against them with his heart is a believer; and he who strove against them with his tongue is a believer ; and beyond that there is no grain of Faith".

Abu Amr ibn Sharid reported: One day I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said to me, “Do you remember anything from the poetry of Umayya ibn Abu Salti?” I said, “Yes.” He said, “Then go on.” So I recited a couplet and he said, “Go on.” Then I recited another couplet and he said, “Go on,” until I recited one hundred couplets.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: When the Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) passed away, Abu Bakr (May Allah be pleased with him) was appointed as his successor (caliph).

Amongst the Arabs some men apostatised. Abu Bakr (May Allah be pleased with him) resolved to fight them.

`Umar bin Al-Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him) said to Abu Bakr: "How can you fight them when the Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) has declared: `I have been commanded to fight people till they testify La ilaha illallah (there is no true god except Allah); and if they do it, their blood (life) and property are secured except when justified by law, and it is for Allah to call them to account."

Upon this Abu Bakr (May Allah be pleased with him) said: "By Allah, I would definitely fight him who makes distinction between Salat and the Zakat, because it is an obligation upon the rich to pay Zakat. By Allah I will fight them even to secure the piece of rope which they used to give to the Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH).”

`Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) said: "I realized that Allah opened the heart of Abu Bakr (May Allah be pleased with him) for fighting those who refused to pay Zakat, and I fully recognized that Abu Bakr ¨(May Allah be pleased with him) was right.”

3rd Sha'aban 1434 (12th June 2013)

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amir (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

'Umar went to Sham and when he reached Sargh, he got the news that an epidemic (of plague) had broken out in Sham.

'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Auf told him that Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, "If you hear
that it (plague) has broken out in a land, do not go to it; but if it breaks out in a land where you are present, do not go out escaping from it."

Bukhari Vol. 7 : No. 626

Narrated Abu Huraira (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, "If Allah wants to do
good to somebody, He afflicts him with trials."

Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, "When night falls (or
when it is evening), stop your children from going out, for the devils
spread out at that time. But when an hour of the night has passed, release
them and close the doors and mention Allah's Name, for Satan does not open
a closed door. Tie the mouth of your water-skin and mention Allah's Name;
cover your containers and utensils and mention Allah's Name. Cover them
even by placing something across it, and extinguish your lamps."

Narrated Kab (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, "The example of a believer
is that of a fresh tender plant, which the wind bends sometimes and makes
it straight other times. And the example of a hypocrite is that of a pine
tree which keeps straight till once it is uprooted suddenly."

Narrated Anas (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

I heard from Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) a narration
which none other than I will narrate to you. The Prophet (Sallallahu
'Alaihi Wa Sallam), said, "From among the portents of the Hour are the
following: General ignorance (in religious affairs) will prevail,
(religious) knowledge will decrease, illegal sexual intercourse will
prevail, alcoholic drinks will be drunk (in abundance), men will decrease
and women will increase so much so that for every fifty women there will be
one man to look after them."

(the wife of the Prophet) that she asked Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) about plague, and Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) informed her saying, "Plague was a punishment which Allah used to send on whom He wished, but Allah made it a blessing for the believers.

The believers who remain patient in a land in which plague has broken out and consider that nothing will befall him except what Allah has ordained for him, Allah will grant him a reward similar to that of a martyr."

When his illness was aggravated, I used to recite

those two Suras and blow my breath over him and make him rub his body with
his own hand for its blessings."
