Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala Rasulillah

As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu

12th Muharram 1435 (15th November 2013)

Narrated Anas bin Malik (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, "Allah puts an angel in
charge of the uterus and the angel says, 'O Lord, (it is) semen! O Lord,
(it is now) a clot! O Lord, (it is now) a piece of flesh.' And then, if
Allah wishes to complete its creation, the angel asks, 'O Lord, (will it
be) a male or a female? A wretched (an evil doer) or a blessed (doer of
good)? How much will his provisions be? What will his age be?' So all that
is written while the creature is still in the mother's womb."

Bukhari Vol. 8 : No. 594

The prophet peace and blessings be upon him said: "A person who teaches goodness to others while neglecting his own soul, is like an oil lamp which illumines others while burning itself out." (Ibn Majah)

Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet said, "The Hour (Last Day) will not be established until (religious) knowledge will be taken away (by the death of religious learned men), earthquakes will be very frequent, time will pass quickly, afflictions will appear, murders will increase and money will overflow amongst you."

The Holy Prophet (SAW) said:

Do not marry a woman only for her beauty since her beauty may cause her impiety; nor for her wealth because her wealth may cause her disobedience; but marry a religious woman for her faith.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Every Muslim has to give in charity."
The people then asked: "(But what) if someone has nothing to give, what should he do?"
The Prophet replied: "He should work with his hands and benefit himself and also give in charity (from what he earns)."
The people further asked: "If he cannot find even that?"
He replied: "He should help the needy who appeal for help." Then the people asked: "If he cannot do (even) that?"
The Prophet said finally: "Then he should perform good deeds and keep away from evil deeds, and that will be regarded as charitable deeds."

- Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 2, Hadith 524

`Abdullah Ibn `Amr narrated that a man asked the Prophet (saw), "What Islamic traits are the best?" The Prophet (saw) said: "Feed the people and greet those whom you know and those whom you do not know." ( Sahih Bukhaari)

ان قامت على احدكم القيامة وفي يده فسيلة فليغرسها

If the Day of Resurrection were to take any one of you by surprise while he is holding a palm shoot, he should plant it. [Ahmad]

Dr. V Abdur Rahim commenting on this hadith mentions the following points of benefit:
1. The importance of carrying out one's duty even under the most challenging circumstances.
2. The importance of planting trees in order to provide food and shelter.
3. The importance of making use of time however short it may be.

Other points of benefit:
- The day of Judgement is abotu to be established. Yet Prophet SAW tells us to do the action. Obviously no one will benefit. However, even if we don't end up doing the action, we will benefit as we will be rewarded for the intention.
- Keep working hard until the very end.
- Don't trivialize any good deed.

So many more benefits can be derived from this hadith. I was listening to a Morrocan Sheikh and he was giving a Khutba about this hadith. He said that this time of wisdom cannot be found in books of philosophy and can only come from a prophet.

Masha'Allah................

That is a truly beautiful hadith. May Allah reward you for sharing that. I feel rewarded having the privilege to read it.
