Asalaamu alaykum,
Recently whilst I was back home, I noticed that the Colgate toothpastes had halal symbol on it. After I came back to England, I tried to look for this or at least see if it states vegetarian on the colgate toothpastes but I didn't find anything. This has led me to do more research on cosmetics and I have found out that things such as shampoo/soap etc can contain haram ingredients.
Unfortunately, it hasn't been very easy to locate a list of what is halal in UK so my question is, what should we do? From my understanding, even if we use such soap and shampoo to cleanse ourselves and then wash with water, we are removing all impurities? What about the toothpaste? I'm still using Colgate although I do remember seeing one brand of toothpaste which was for about 8 pounds and vegetarian friendly. At the time I didn't buy it, because I understood that it would be okay to use Colgate as well as I would be rinsing my mouth out afterwards and 8 pounds seemed like a lot for a medium sized tube. However, obviously, if Colgate in UK is haram for me to use, then I would spend more money to purchase something halal but is this really the case?
Does anyone have any answers....?
