Halal or Haraam

Hi,
The other day i went to a chinese restaurant, local, and the food was brilliant... i went and asked the guy at the counter is the food halal, he said yes...
so am i just ment to take his word for it, or if im suspicious dont go there again??
Im confused on what i should do, eat there, or don't go because their food is haraam.

Uhmm, Most people who claim their food is halal do not mind showing you something to back it up.
