I am a christian woman who is general interested in islam and particularly now because i have a family member who has converted and are now married with a "born" muslim.

I hope to use this forum to be wiser on the muslim faith and the way of living as a muslim.

I admit to not always agree with the muslim way of thinkin, but i do always respect other peoples believes.

My first exact question is:
Is it OK for me to greet a muslim with asalamu alaikum, despite the fact that I am not a muslim ?
(I will not offend anyone, just be polite and wish them the best)

Hi latey,

Welcome to the forum,
Hope you enjoy your stay here and learn too... inshaAllah (God willing)

Assalamualikum means "peace be with you".... so , if you want to use that , there is nothing wrong with it.

See your posts around

Peace.

Greetings Latey :)

:welcome: to the forums :)...hope you have a great and beneficial stay here :)

i couldn't really find anything related to that question...but i did find this on the web:

Question Because of the Holidays, Christmas, my employers are giving me gifts in the form of cash. They know that I am a Muslim. They say this is their way of thanking me for working for them. It is Permissible for me to accept this gifts? Thank you very much in advance for your prompt response.
AnswerThere is no harm in receiving gifts. It is their holiday and they are recognizing your services in them giving gifts at this time. You can also give them gifts at 'Eid time.

Muslims are allowed to receive gifts from non-Muslims and also to give them gifts. The Prophet (SAAWS) received many gifts from non-Muslims and he used to give them gifts as well as he used to show his kindness to them.

if we are allowed to recieve gifts from them i think it is alright for you to say salam to us :)
