Hi Islamic fellows (and others),

I am German, but I write in English because it seems to be common here. I will give you a detailed introduction to my life with God/Jehovah/Allah/Jesus and other relevant names.

I started to believe in God at the age of 6, and I had a few relevant prayers and insights at this early age. My Christian godfather was an approximately 40-year-old man who led the church community inside a group of people suffering from alcohol addiction. I ran into frequent problems with him from the age of six.

This is a big mess and it's complex to describe, but to sum it up: he did not accept my way of believing in God and banned me from his church community, spreading the lie that I was a Satanist before I was eighteen. I'm honest in telling you that I had contact with two weird guys using satanic and contra-christian stuff to talk themselves into a fear psychosis, using it like a thrill from a horror movie or a cocaine kick. My early openness to drugs of all kinds, except drugs with physical addiction (like heroin or alcohol), was another reason my godfather banned me from his religious community. But when I ran into this fear psychosis, I decided to follow my godfather, who brought me into a fundamentalist Christian community. It took about 25 years until my medically approved sickness of fear psychosis healed without (!) psychiatric medication, which I accepted at a late age, older than about 40. Then, at the age of 47, came other hard health issues: two relapses of multiple sclerosis and one multiple brain stroke. As a result, my entire right side was paralyzed. Today almost all of this has recovered, and I'm currently busy getting my driver's license back and repairing broken computers and synthesizers in my home studio. Before my health problems I worked with famous artists like Linkin Park, Anne Clark, Robert Tepper and Hubert Kah, and I worked on big international software projects, but all of this is forgotten now. Just my body and soul being healthy is the important thing. I have finished reading almost the whole Bible and have now decided to read the Quran. I was impressed by the end of Surah 2, and this sentence gave me the confidence to read the entire Quran in detail. This is the reason I came to your group, and I hope and pray to find good friends with tips for reading the Quran. Looking forward to a nice time with you!

i want to finally say, that i collected a endless list of open points and todos since about jan 2026 and i hope, not to forget to give feedback to your responses. so don't hesitate and send me a private notification message via the forum function. thx!

best regards, cb

Hello CharlyBeck,

Thanks for sharing your story with us and it’s great to hear you are reading the Qur’an.

The Qur’an is very different to the Bible as well as other books, so it helps to read a little bit about its history and how it was revealed in order to gain a better appreciation of it. Here are a few points to note about the Qur'an:

1. The Qur'an is the Speech of God revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ through the Angel Gabriel (Jibril). It is the Final Revelaion from God for all of humanity.

2. The Qur'an was revealed piecemeal over a period of about 23 years, introducing Laws in a gradual manner and addressing many events during the time of the Prophet ﷺ. Sometimes verses would be revealed in response to fallacies raised by disbelievers and other times they would address queries. Rather than being a sequential narrative or story, the Qur'an has a unique and profound structure that makes every part of it relevant and allows the reader to grasp its major goals and messages easily. It is suited for a scripture that is read daily and memorised.

3. The Qur'an is both miraculously preserved and inimitable. In other words, the Qur'an we know today is the exact text that was revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The Qur'an is also miraculous in that it is impossible for human beings to imitate it and it contains no errors or contradictions. The Qur'an was a challenge to the Arabs to produce something like it, but they were unable to do so in spite of their well-known eloquence and literary prowess.

4. There is a distinction between the Qur'an and its translation. In Christian view, the Bible is the Bible, no matter what language it may be in. But a translation of the Qur'an is not the word of God, for the Qur'an is the exact Arabic words spoken by God, revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ by the angel Gabriel. A translation is simply an explanation of the meanings of the Qur'an.
