asalam alaikum wr wb,

My internet speed is real slow. I haven't been able to view a video for ages as it keep stopping. The streaming is slower than a snail. I rang my ISP for help and they said my line is fine but that my CPU usage is very high. It should be between 0-4 % but it's contantly between 25-50.


I have run a cleaner and removed all temp. internet files etc. I've deleted all games but nothing changed. Can anyone advise me as to what might be the problem and what to do about it.

I had a very similar problem just last week. Lasted for about 1 and a half months. By the end I had installed 2 anti viruses and still no change - I even tried unplugging the modem and waiting 30 seconds but this only worked for about 4 minutes. So phoned up ISP and told them. They came around and changed the actual modem.

Works like a dream.

Possible solutions:
Remove the modem plug from its socket (i.e. turn it off) and wait for a few minutes. Put it back in and try the internet. This usually works.

If that one doesn't work, phone your ISP up and ask if one of their technicians can come around and take a look at the modem, cus there's probably something wrong with it. Well, it was in my case at least.

Tnx Aamir Bro, I tried switching off the router a few times. But it hasn't helped. BT got me to plug my router into the PC (I was using wireless) and change the filter. It seemed to help the speed for downloading pictures but that's all. They said my line is fine and they can see my speed is very slow. They mentioned that there must be something on my pc, like drivers, that are causing the problem.

I can't afford to call an engineer out, since the problem seems to be with my pc, not with their router it'll cost me a bomb. :-\

Don't upload the pic in paint.

Print screen the task manager then paste it into a word file. Resize it so it's a little bigger. Then upload the word file onto LI (as you did with the paint version).

If not, use photobucket (it's free to sign up). Upload the word document onto the site with your recently accquired account and it will give you a link. Copy/paste that link onto a post on this thread (it will be in either or [img] tags). This one is slight...aller_new.html?hl=en&gl=us&ciNum=11]T3h L1nk!

Btw, did you view my task manager sis? It's now hitting 100% in the CPU usage *sighs*

Can u tell me the pc configuration.
Right click on my computer: the down left side.

The CPU speed, the RAM it has.

Also the space left in C drive: (where the OS is installed)

Sis, The configuration seems to be ok.

Plz let me know this

1. Plz find the folder named "windows" in which drive it is. then the space left in it.

2. Is the cpu usage increasing as you open an internet page, or specifically if you see a video.

3. How many simultaneous programs are running.

Sister is this happening all the time?Even if you are not in internet?
I had the same problem.......it was a program.....REAL PLAYER...the newest version.
So whenever I opened the Player my CPU would go up to 90% of usage!
So even I closed the Player,the CPU was still 90%.
Then I typed Ctrl - Alt - Del and went in PROCESSES,where it shows which program uses the most of the memory,and clicked on the Real Player name and clicked END PROCESS.So like that the program is totally shutdown from the computer
So after that the process would go to normal...
When started your computer to act like that!?

Inshallah we will solve the problem somehow!
