scary if it does happen in some family where each member is an atheist yet puts up a show of being a Muslim out of fear of other members of family.

It would not surprise me, and has probably happened. I have seen it personally with a Christian couple (neither of whom were actually believers but both claimed to be to please their spouse).

According to the poll it looks like about 21%.

I'm actually suprised that so many atheists have voted in the poll. I didn't know we've had that many come through the forum.

When I was 7 years old I told my parents that there was no point in living, because there was no God. I had no religion at the time, so I suppose you could call me an agnostic who was considering Atheism and got really scared.

That is so sad :( I can hardly imagine the environment that would cause a little boy to think in such a manner.

The meaning of life is to give life meaning. Purpose stems not from without, but from within. To find purpose in your life look not to your peers, look not to the heavens, but look within yourself.

Witty response, lol. :~)

I believe in free will. I just don't want to misuse it. I wouldn't want to be the only guy wearing a green plaid shirt at Mecca, for example. I'd much rather be the one guy who bought extra water instead of the green plaid shirt, and was handing it out to thirsty people.
