Look I'm Christian, I wanna know why the so called good Muslims are not making a stand, someone always knows when someone changes... I'm sick of the U.K. Making allowances for your faith!!! Why can we build mosques and u won't build churches ??? Why can you wear the head gear in shops but we have to remove helmets? Why can we not fly our flag???? Why is bacon an insult???
Julie, first, welcome to the forum. Julie, you are presuming that Muslims are not taking a stand? We have taken a stand. My question is have you been listening. And I want to answer each and every question of yours if I am able
InshaAllah (God-willing) alongside my wonderful brothers and sisters here, some Muslims and some non-Muslims.
First, sister in humanity, we're taught as a Muslim to honor our neighbor and to be good to them. Prophet :saws:
(peace and blessings to be upon him), “O Sa’ib, look at the character of your deeds in the time of ignorance and continue them in Islam: honor the guest, be generous to the orphan, and be
good to your neighbor.” Prophet :saws:
(peace and blessings be upon him) did not specify as to the religion of the neighbor because we're supposed to be good to our neighbors regardless of their religion or lack thereof; this recommendation to be good to our neighbors applies to both our Muslim and non-Muslim neighbors.
Sister, I do not know why you imagine that we're preaching hatred and intolerance when that is
not the objective truth. I take Allah (God) as My Witness that I have
always been part of the efforts of trying to teach and spread the message of peace and unity to both Muslims and non-Muslims. Similarly, other Muslims here on IB I perceive have been making the same efforts to whatever extent they're able. However, us personally advocating respectful and peaceful coexistence does not mean that the extremists or would-be-terrorists are listening to and accepting our efforts.
I understand that you hate the evil and tragedy that has happened at the Adriana Grande concert, and it was indeed a travesty of the focus on mercy of Allah (God) that exists in Islam, which we have to have to extend to all humankind. I know personally I felt a resigned sadness as I heard the news - I felt resigned because unfortunately I have come to expect these types of tragedies to happen because terrorists do not care whom they hurt (Muslim or non-Muslim) as long as their purpose in wrecking havoc and destruction is fulfilled and I felt sadness because of the families of the victims and the people in the U.K. who will be hurting after this event.
I am not sure why you think banks and shops disallowing hoodies or helmets is a discriminatory practice when compared with Muslims who are
obliged by scriptural mandate and understanding to cover their hair for love of Allah and Allah's Pleasure while also keeping in mind that modesty and carrying oneself with self-respect is elevated in Islam.
If you want to fly your flag, you're free to do so. Certainly, as an American, I have seen many flags being flown outside of the homes that I see as I go to and fro from work each day as part of Memorial Day weekend and celebration. In U.K., is there a law that proscribes you from flying your flag if you wish to do so? And what is the message that you'd like to send others who observe the flag-waving?
Bacon is not considered an insult. I am not sure where you've learned this information, but this is not true. Muslims are not allowed to eat pork, but that does not mean that any non-Muslim person eating bacon is considered an insult. It is
not perceived as an insult. I am unsure how you came to arrive at the understanding that Muslims regard bacon as an insult. Muslims just find eating pork not part of their spiritual hygiene because it is specifically forbidden to us in Islam.
Also, sister, I'd like to highlight that there's a Yemeni genocide currently taking place led by a coalition of Muslim countries that is supported with the complete political blessing of both U.K. and U.S. To what extent are you as a U.K. citizen willing to take responsibility for the U.K. government's actions in this matter? 1.5 million innocent Yemeni children are starving, and approximately every 10 minutes a Yemeni child dies with approximately 4,000 dying each month. Is that not also your concern because these are non-Western children? If even one Western child dies due to terrorism, it is big news. And I do not reject the right of the news media to cover the tragedy, because such tragedies
are big news in our time and à la mode to present as the only big tragedy of our time. Sister, where though is the wide media coverage for this tragedy in Yemen right beneath our noses? Where, sister, is your outrage for this genocide that is happening with the blessing of the U.K. government? Sister, you read and hear the news and rightly to you Western deaths matter and become a matter of concern, but do non-Western deaths not equally matter? I'd hope it does. "
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere," said the American civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. once.
Peace.
Sincere Regards & Best Wishes,
