Hilarious Hijabs!!!

Hijab is Arabic for protection and cover. Some people put alot of effort into their Hijab, yet it serves no purpose. I am referring to the pointless Hijab that some girls wear.

The first pointless hijab is referred to as the headband hijab. It is a band of fabric approximately 4 inches wide. It covers the back of the head and allows all the hair to be exposed. It doesn't serve much in terms of modesty, but atleast it comes in handy in case of an unexpected tennis match!

The second pointless hijab is the dupatta, also known as the Saran wrap hijab. It covers all the hair, but it is totally transparent. Again, it doesn't serve much in terms of modesty, but it keeps the hair nice and fresh!

The third type of hijab is known as the Mickey Mouse Hijab. It is when a girl wears a black scarf and tucks it behind her ears so that her ears stick out!

We now move on to my favourites- the yo-yo hijabs:
The first yo-yo hijab is the scarf that keeps falling down and needs to be constantly pulled back up...up, down, up, down, just like a yo-yo.

The second yo-yo hijab is also referred to as the convertible hijab. This type of hijab is predominant at any type of social event i.e an Aqeeqah, Bismillah party, Ameen party, Wedding, etc.

This is when an Imam or Qari comes up to the microphone and starts to recite the Qur'an. At this point, all the convertible hijabs come up...until he says..."SADAQALLAHUL ADHEEM". I'm not sure, but apparently, in some cultures that translates to "OK SISTERS, YOU MAY TAKE OFF YOUR SCARVES."

I'm sure this may seem odd, but what's even funnier is when people do not anticipate the recitation of the Qur'an at a social event, and are forced to be creative and use accessories such as purses to cover one's hair!

I was surprised to see a woman hold her purse over her head as "HIJAB" ......as if the multitudes of men surrounding her are not a good enough reason to wear hijab, but some guy reciting du'a compels her to hold her purse over her head. Her friends were more creative...one friend used her dinner napkin!

I was also laughing when I saw the communal hijab-two or morw girls dropped under one dinner napkin during the recitation of the Qur'an. Her other friend was still more creative...she used her coffee saucer on the back of her head. I wasnt sure if it was hijab or Yamaka. I didn't know if she was a Muslim or a Jew. I felt like going up to her and saying: "SHALOM ALAIKUM, SISTER"

And, people should remember that hijab is not just a protection from guys, but from a girl's nafs (ego) as well. IT should prevent girls from having to spend hours infront of the mirror doing her hair. But unfortunately, you see girls in front of the mirrors for hours doing their hijab as they would do their hair, with all sorts of elaborate braids and the like. I wanted to go up to a sister and say: "IS YOUR HIJAB NATURALLY CURLY?" I also felt compelled to go up to another girl and say "PARDON ME, BUT IS YOUR HIJAB NATURALLY THAT COLOR OR DID YOU DIE IT?" Well, the point is that some people make an effort to wear hijab, but it is futile, because it is not fulfilling its pupose. It's like using an umbrella with holes in it. Hijab is used for protection from guys as well as from the girl herself, and should not be used as an accessory or for beautifying one's self!!!

So it is not enough to cover yourself, you have to look ugly as well?

I am interested in why you have posted so many articles on hijab. I mean of all the issues in the Muslim world, this one seem disproportionately important. How much of the Quran or Hadith is devoted to the Hijab? How much of this Forum is? How much of your time is? You reckon the answers are about 1 percent, about 20 percent and about 99 percent? Don't you think there are some more important issues you could be concerned with? Well obviously you do not, but may I ask why you think this is so important? Muslims are out there drinking and gambling and smoking. And sitting on the dole. Isn't that important too?

Educate a woman and you educate a nation.
Correct a woman's mistakes and you correct the nation's

Re: Hilarious Hijab

How much of your time is?

I wear Hijab everytime I go out or a non-mehram comes in front of me (Sum guy hus not related 2 me)

Muslims are out there drinking and gambling and smoking. And sitting on the dole. Isn't that important too?

Yep that is.

Well this whole internet thing must be problematic for you, but I will let it pass. You misunderstand my question. I am not asking how much of your time is spent wearing it. I was asking how much of the Brother's time was spent trying to defend the wearing of it. Look at this Forum. It is packed with people all talking about the hijab. How much time did Muhammed spend talking about the hijab as opposed to, say, poverty and justice? Why do you think that so many people care so much more about hijab than starvation in Niger?

Yep that is.

Then where are the threads on it? Is there one single thread here on why Muslim men should not drink and how important it is to make them stop?

Re: Hilarious Hijab

Muhammad (saw) emphasized on the importance of hijab so much that his daughter Lady Fatimah, before dying told her family to bury her using something like a casket. (In those days, during the Pagan times, coffins were not used. Dead people were left open)

Re: Hilarious Hijab

the words," educate a woman and you educate the nation" are not my words.
Ask the one who said them.
I was juts explaining

May I ask whose words they are (and why Muslims are ignoring them)?

And may I also ask what did you mean? If you were explaining you must have had something in mind....

1. Muslims are not ignoring them
2. What I was explaining is that since u said that I should not waste my time talking about hijab, I elaborated my point.

What is the source for this claim? And how is that related to hijab?

Are you telling me it is forbidden to see the outline of a dead woman?

Re: Hilarious Hijab

Really? What makes you think one women has so much more power than one man?

I think the author (whoever he/she may be) meant to say that when a woman is educated, she is able to educate her children. Thus, if you educate the women of a nation, they will in turn educate their children, the nation's next generation. Hence, you will be educating a nation? That's an obvious analysis of the sentence, but I don't think it was meant to suggest women are more powerful than men.

Re: Hilarious Hijab

1. Muslims are not ignoring them

They seem to be to me. You certainly are. I count twelve threads started by you on the subject of hijab today and one on abortion. But none of alcohol or drug dealing or anything that would restrain the way men have to behave.

Why is that?

2. What I was explaining is that since u said that I should not waste my time talking about hijab, I elaborated my point.

I do not think you should not waste your time on hijab. I am wondering why this is so much more important to you than, say, unemployment and crime among young Muslims.

Re: Hilarious Hijab

I did not mention that it is haraam to see the outline of a dead woman.
Since you wrote that Muhammad (saw) did not preach much about hijab, I was showing you how much importance Islam has laid on hijab.

And i would appreciate it if you would stop telling me to remind you of your own words

Except a coffin has nothing to do with hijab does it? Can you explain to me the link between the two?

And i would appreciate it if you would stop telling me to remind you of your own words

I have never even asked you to do that. I am trying to work out what you are saying and it is hard because you are being so evasive.

All that are important true.
But some philosopher said," educate a woman and you educate the bation", I am trying to educate the mone about hijab and hence if they correct themselves then hopefully the whole nation will be corrected through them.

True brother, I'll also be a witness to this.

What I am saying is that Lady Fatimah asked for something like a coffin to show the importance of hijab.
