'And' in Hindi is 'aur' और . And no, I don't speak Hindi - I learned that from my favourite Hindi movie Seeta Aur Geeta. (My girlfriend's name is Seeta).

yah your right, hindi moves are good for learning hindi but you end up with a vocabulary full of love related words

Yup all the indian movies are haraam...(least reason to say them haraam - people wit haraam clothes are in Indian movies ) ......
...better not to watch...

DONT WATCH MOVIES

" Apun Sayingna Tho, Thu samaj karna aur follow karna "

Wa Wa..wa mera hindi.. mein banrahein hein ek hindi guru/pandit.... thu log join karna mera... padshala...

yah i know and im truth ful i always strive to be a better muslim but its difficult espically when unfortinatly even though my husband has been in canada less time then me and comes from a religious household i tend to have to push him towards whats right he tends to watch movies and such its difficult when the whole family watches to walk away...its definitly hard i try to do more productive things with my time like study islam im even looking around for some classes...

but then again i cant blame it on anyone except myself, no one can force you to do anything its all about will power and its true my faith is more important then a movie by far

Why are Hindi movies haram? I agree, some of the modern ones I've seen are immoral, but ones like Seeta Aur Geeta and Vivah are perfectly moral and I see nothing in them that would violate Islamic morality, except the fact that the girls don't wear hijab. But then I'm not a Muslim, so I can't make judgment on it.

i dont know if they all are some say all movies and music are, othrs say only the ones depict bad things and dress wrong and that kinda thing... but they do get worse and worse, altho i watched a very heart warming one about a family last month ( ta ra rum pum) but i dont know if they are all haram

i really have to do more research

asalaamualaikum,

Abdul Raouf, asalaamualaikum, we can definitely help you out. just stick to this thread. it's funny how I learned most of my hindi from growing up with a heavy bollywood influence in my house (my dad only let us watch the old movies..like depressing guru dutt stuff). both of my parents are huge fans of ghazals so we grew up surrounded by urdu poetry.

Admin, your hindi is also quite good. those words sound correct! mashAllah.

zarhad, i know what you mean. I hardly ever watch bollywood anymore. still, once in awhile..you get to hear of a good decent movie that you can watch with the entire family. most of the stuff is just besharam these days. :(

michael, that's right. it's "aur"

3isha, ji hameh gujrati bhi aati hain. gujrati meri apni basha hain. meri hindi bhi itni khaas nahin hain. kya karte? :( leikin ghar mein hindi bola karo tho ek doh mahine mein faraq pad jayega.. inshAllah.

Jab main solah baras ki thi..maine musalmaan baneka faisla liya. alhamdulillah.

ab aap khush haina, Abdullah saab? lol. aapki hindi bhi kaafi achi hain. log gujarati purr mazakh udathe hain, humari hindi sunkar. leikin woh log ghalat hain. hum tho bilkul sahi bolthe hain. haina?

Abdullah saab? pehli baar kisini mujhe saab bowla...aur aap kau meri hindi achi lag ti hai? mujhe to bata bi nahi ke mai hindi botla hu? hum to yei samaj tai they ke yai to urdu hai..acha koy baat nahi

Aur tumhara gujrati bilkul sahi hain!

P.S If i said something wrong please forgive me. :)

it's all good. :) I always thought us indian muslims speak hindi unless we're from delhi or lucknow. people from way up north speak awesome urdu but I never thought myself at that level.

Was a christain so ya.

Im learning arabic tho, wana learn some other languages but im bad at them :(

kittygyal, what i basically said to abdullah is that he speaks hindi rather well and that i became muslim at age 16. he said that he always thought he spoke urdu rather than hindi.

Afterall I've studied Hindi for 12 years. :playing:
I always thought us indian muslims speak hindi unless we're from delhi or lucknow.
People rarely speak Hindi even in india. Generally it's urdu. Nowadays even bollywood is 90% urdu, unless it's from tht guru dutt era :D

the confusing thing is i know hindi but can only read and write in urdu ..lol

but they are basicly the same just diffrent diolects like pashto in afghanistan and pashto in pakistan (but i cant understand people from pakistan..lol)

of course not, if you just know urdu, and then hear PURE hindi, you cant understand a bit :)

yeah, that's right. Growing up..my parents used to make us watch the epic (like 20 videos), Mahabharat. Have you heard of it? Mannn..was that confusing. I felt like I was listening to another language all together. Eventually we got the hang of it and started to call our parents pitashree and matashree (we were just teasing of course).
