Assalamu Alaikum everyone,
For those of us raising families in Western countries, balancing regular school, homework, extracurricular activities, and Islamic education can be a massive juggling act.
Many parents rely on weekend Islamic schools, but a common issue is that a long gap between weekly classes often leads to children forgetting what they learned by the next weekend.
Over the years, talking to other parents, a few practical shifts seem to make a big difference in keeping children motivated without causing burnout:
I’m curious to know what routines work best in your households? How do you keep your kids engaged and excited about their daily revision?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and tips!

Over the years, talking to other parents, a few practical shifts seem to make a big difference in keeping children motivated without causing burnout:
- Prioritize Consistency Over Duration: A short, 20-minute daily session is often much more effective for a child's memory retention than a single, exhausting 2-hour session once a week.
- 1-on-1 Focus: In large group settings, children can easily lose focus or pick up incorrect pronunciation habits. Individual attention ensures their Tajweed and Noorani Qaida foundation is solid from day one.
- Track Progress Visually: Children love seeing their achievements. Using a simple physical or digital reward chart for completing lessons keeps them eager to learn.
