I know quite a few words in Somali.....Insha'allah I'll use this thread to learn many more!

it's derived from the name of the forefather of all somalis called ''somaal''

The most accepted explanation is that it has been derived from 'go and milk' (soo-maal) and was often said by the Somalis when the ancient traders such as ancient Egyptians (Pharaohs), Arabs, Chinese, etc used to visit the coast. This used to denote their hospitality by always serving milk to visitors.
