I don't have an interest in anything lately, I don't feel passionate about stuff either :hmm: and I don't feel motivated to do anything at all. I don't know how to get my motivation back. Any idea's?

When you come to a standstill like that Shaytan has got a lot to do with it.

Fight him.

Get one of these insha Allah! I've been so sleepy these past few weeks. I only get up because I have to pray. Otherwise I'd stay in bed, order in takeaways and live like a slob til the feeling passed.

[h=1]LIGHT THERAPY LAMP SUNLIGHT SAD DISORDER 10000 LUX SAD Lamp[/h]
If you suffer from sleepless nights, fatigue or depression during the autumn and winter months, regular use of this lamp (1 hour per day is recommended) can help to combat these symptoms.

Light levels determine the sleep / wake cycles of both animals and humans. The desire to sleep is brought on by the secretion of Melatonin and the bright natural light. The light from a SAD lamp significantly reduces Melatonin, greatly improving our energy levels. Typical symptoms of SAD are depression, lethargy, anxiety, craving, social problems, sleep problems and loss of libido. These symptoms can be commonly resolved through the use of light boxes.
Unlike many cheaper units, this lamp extensively re-developed for 2010, this device fully meets the requirements of Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC and is fully CE Approved and RoHS Compliant.

I'm a bit skeptical about these things, I bought a panisonic one, it omitted a blue light which was supposed to be like a blue sky, but it didn't have any effect on me.

Have you got experience with device? has it helped you??

+ lots of hot showers with cold at the end, hot gets your blood circulating, and cold re-conditions you for the atmosphere and prevents sweating.

a) Go out and play with your friends, basketball, football etc.

b) Fight depression, it causes a loss of interest in things.

I am thinking of getting one. A sister said it benefited her, and I believe it would as the lack of natural light does you harm. I'm not sure the blue light is the same thing? I do know blue light bulbs are used by embroiders and crafters who need to work in natural daylight. As far as I know they just mimic natural day light, that's all. But I've not heard of any health benefits from it, sorry.

1. Depression - which is a lot more common that we might think but it often solvable. You don't have to live like that, there are ways out of it. You also need to be physically active as this releases 'happy' hormones. You might also consider seeing a therapist - sometimes we can reoccurring depression because there are issues we haven't dealt with.
2. Make sure you are taking Vitamin D3 tablets. This is very important since a lot of people, of both sex, don't get enough. You can check out Dr. Mercola's website for more about it.
3. Remove things from your life that bring you down - like T.V./movies/images and music.

I pray you feel better soon inshAllah,
Khadija.

Funny how Dr Mercola with all his health tips looks quite unhealthy and as pale as a ghost himself ;D

I don't know how to get my motivation back.

lets start with this.. you want to get your motivation back so you must of had it for something before, correct? so what is it you liked to do were passionate about before you fell into this rut?

This is going to sound silly but I really used to enjoy playing games on my PC, I found it a great stress relief, and I'd play an hour of that then feel like I'd been given a charge to do other things :hmm: I haven't played since 2009 cos my PC became too outdated for the latest updates, :hmm: I think also stress is the problem, I can't do stuff when I feel under stress and pressure, and right now I have loads of deadlines to meet for uni, I don't know why I can't perform under stress or pressure :hmm:

You gotta get out and exercise. The hardest move is that first step. But once you start, you'll enjoy it, feel energized and better off mentally. How about squash? Or cycling? Or some kind of martial arts? It doesn't matter what it is, as long as your getting the sufficient amount of exercise your body needs, it will help insha Allah.

:salamext:

another poster may have mentioned all the points i am about to cover, but nevertheless, i'm going to re-enforce them. :)

work on your mental health. khalas. make sure you get enough rest. do things you enjoy doing.

whatever helps you feel closer to the deen, engage in such an activity - i'm suggesting this on a personal level because i know that anything to do with the deen gives me a spiritual boost like nothing else. socialise with GOOD people. it may be hard to distinguish bad from evil in your peers, but someone's actions speak novels about them. if they do bad things but seem like good people personality wise you should at least take a break from them and hang around with righteous company as this will keep you motivated in the deen.

i know what you're going through and i'm sort of going through it myself. i've been told it's to do with depression. you may not think you're depressed, and i thought depression was a far fetched idea, as well - but many people with depression sincerely don't know they have it. people say do things you do which is obviously good to keep your spirits up but if you're a person who's addicted to the internet then please, insha'Allah, cut your time on it. i'm not saying stay away from it, because i'm on the internet myself right now, but i've found myself to be less cut off from society and personal feelings when i engage in a vast array of activities involving other people and also spending time with my family. human interaction is the key.

if all else fails, do what i've suggested but also make sure you drink plenty of water and take multivitamins and insha'Allah you'll feel perky in no time. i hope i helped somewhat, brother.

You know what I've realized, a lot people that come on here who are seeking some kind of help or advice they usually state their problem but they do not provide the full context of the situation that might be causing the problem in the first place. As a result, you get a lot of answers which are general, for example, in this case, exercising, eating properly, getting out more, etc etc... but the fact of the matter is your sitting there thinking yeah, I already knew that and since we'll never really know what exactly it is that is making you feel down or lazy, lathargic , no one can really help you... The reason I am saying this I because I know from experience and I've done the same thing...

none the less, you mentioned you like playing pc games..what did you use to play? World of craft? and comon get with the times, computers/laptops are relatively cheap now a days go get your self a better machine:p

Sometimes, When I have such feelings; I just go for along walk and say Athiker while walking and also going to the masjid praying in Jama`ah, sitting in one of the corners making Athiker and reading Qur`aan are just amazing. that would help ya alot in shaa Allah...

walking along the shore all alone or with someone you trust, walking in a forest, climbing a mountain and sitting on the top of it, talking to a friend, drawing, writing down your feelings and thoughts on some paper or note book, laying down and dive in imaginations, cooking something new, making someone happy, playing with kids, telling my problem to a kid and Sub`haan Allah you sometimes get strange answers and reactions sometimes they are so deep and wise and even eating Ice cream help alot for me but I don`t know about others cause we are not alike ...

the best thing is; laying and darkness speaking to our Lord about everything and be whatever you want with Allah, laugh, cry or whatever just tell what you wana tell and after that an amazing feeling of happiness will fill your heart after a deep breath you will take and a long sigh you will exhale; feeling the vanishing of the heavy burden and stress from your chest...in that time you just wana fly cause you are free...Sub`haana Rabbi Al 3atheem.

May Allah fill your heart with happiness always and forever Ameeeeeeeeeen

Asalamu alikum wr wb!

Bro Salahudeen! I asked this same question in sister's section! happy to know someone's feeling as crappy as me :D (with no offence)

As I've also suffered from LOP (Lack of Passion) Syndrome, so i can like REALLy advice you here. So my advice is to just let it be BUT keep praying to Allah. THIS is the ONLY ONLY way (to emphasise it properly). You HAVE to start finding something of your INTEREST!!! :hiding: And i know this syndrome kills all that so now you neeed to FORCE yourself into something! Look, I know that i enjoy reading science articles, but the moment i think of reading anything, i feel really lazzy and keep wasting time here and there. But then i started to FORCE myself into doing somethning of my interes (i know it doesn't sound right but you know what i'm talking about ^o) )

Still remeber, maybe this forcing thing isn't gona work either. ONLY ALLAH can. be 100% sure He is going to help you the moment you finish reading thi post. :D believe me bro, SUPPLICATE! And your time starts NOW.... :D

Now why do one suffers from LOP?
This might b because of "uncertainty" of the future or life in general. You might be going through a phase where the things are really undecided and you are the one who has to take a decision and still you are the one unable to. Maybe your future carreer isn't getting started or some other problem. But this will pass away when your job or studies will start again. :)

Everyone has interest and the desire to achieve an achievement. Someone who has interest in cooking want to be able to cook delicious food, someone who has interest in photography want to be able to take amazing photo.

But unfortunately, not all people know how to start to active in their interest. It makes them try to forget their interest and try to find other interest. But then they are facing the same problem, do not know how to start. Finally, it makes them lose their passion to carry out their interest.

So, what should we do if we have an interest but do not know how to start and carry out our interest ?. Simple, joint those who know.

Join in club or community will make us meet those who know. Join in cooking club will make us know how to start cooking and how to make delicious food. Join in football club will give us a chance to start a career as footballer.

And also, atmosphere in club or community will make us always have motivation to achieve an achievement in our interest.
