Buh here's what I learnt so far

Sasi = aunt on fathers side that is Chachi in Urdu

Bala aso nai =how are you

Kita uffre= what's up (the literal sense)

Ki cholche = what's up proper Bengali

Ayram and ayar = I'm coming

N that makes me an A grade student doesn't it :)

Would love to learn more if anyone willing to teach this annoying lil nemo.:p

Oh I forgot 1

Kita khoss =what are u saying (remember not to say it in front of elder ppl otherwise you'll get five fingers across ur face)

bengali is my mother tongue

my birth place is punjab so in childhood i knew very good punjabi mum said but later forgot as i transfered to other place
im an indian

Formal; Afne kitha khoy ray = what are you saying?

Formal; Ayram = coming

Informal; Ayar = coming

Formal; Afne kitha khorray = what are you doing?

Informal; Kitha khorreh = what are you doing?

How old are you? = Afnar boish khur thur (formal) Tumar boish khur thur (informal)

Where do you live? = Afne khanur roin / thakhoin (formal) Tumi khanu thakhur / row (the verb 'row'; same pronunciation) (informal)

And that's enough, others may want to impart proper Bangla upon y'all

It's all well and good reading the interpretations and whatnot but it's another matter speaking it and making sure it is said correctly! Lol, make sure y'all let your Bangla-speaking friends test you out on these :)

I thought we had a Bengali section.. but haven't seen it in a while, or maybe it was a thread?
I speak Sylheti, due to the majority of the Bengali's in this city speaking Sylheti, but back in my home city, the family speak Shuddho.. I just have to remember which dialect to switch between dependent on the relative I'm speaking to.
I can understand and used to be able to hold fluent conversations in Shuddho, but have been out of practice for a while now..
I also end up mixing Urdu with my Bangla and English.. Speaking Binglish..:D:D

I want a section too: for South African Indians who speak Afrikaans and Zulu :P
