How many females would ever marry someone who already has a wife...

or several. Personally I could never do that. I know in Islam men are allowed to have up to four wives but can someone explain to me the reason for why that is. Also do any muslimas husbands also have other wives? How do you feel about that?

I would not marry another man who was already married. In US it is illegal and called bigamy. I can understand the logic behind Islamic polygamy if one follows the example of Muhammed (PBUH) who married primarily war widows. In those sitautions maybe I could accept the concept, but not under any other.

I dont understand ur question. You are saying that in Islam men are allowed to marry four wives. You want to know the reason?

Because it is allowed? Allah Ta'aala has made it a lawful option.

It is allowed. However, there is a condition. He must treat and provide for his wives all equally in every single way otherwise he's not allowed if he is not able to do so.

As, to why it is allowed... As said, Allah has made it permissible so that's the end of that.

I dont think its selfish. I'd be angry and annoyed if my partner even touched another girl, it would hurt me like hell, that's why I don't understand why other people accept it even though it is allowed.

well im not sure if i can answer that question right now because im not Married, BUT my wife shouldnt really have a problem with it inshallah, if i did because Allah has allowed it but there are certain requirements that men have to forfill for the wifes so its not easy ofcourse.

Well apart from anything else like traditions .. its totally islamic way of life .. and I'm not married yet .. but Insha allah my wife will be a salafy .. I don't think she would mind that at all.

I know a lot of muslim women don't like it .. but still if its about feelings .. it has been done by the mothers of believers .. and been done before that and after that also. So it should be easly accepted since its been done by great women

what you say is true; but then again, its easier said then done.

It's permissible in Islam and has specific requirements, but anyway, I doubt many men would be able to provide for more than one family.

The brothers who marry more than one woman are imposing double the load/responsibilty on themselves; and truthfully said, in these times, I don't think many have the capacities to maintain and equally provide for each of their wives' household.

I believe it is the intention behind your husband desiring to marry another woman which cuts the deepest. Lets say he had the ability and money to provide for many women,and he chose to marry a woman(a second one) who..I don't know, lost her husband in the war, as someone had mentioned. Then,maybe you could understand. But if it was simply because he desired many wives, then I think that will hurt the initial wife; no matter what.


Please remember that we are only human beings; women have emotions ; which is NOT something you can control.You can understand something and agree with it;but if it pains your heart well then you can't deny it,your only human.
