my story

my first fajar in makkah was on Saturday , I was praying at first floor bab e abdul aziz , after praying i was going for tawaf , when i reached the stairs of bab e aziz i saw a person coming towards the stairs with 3 guards ,and people were trying to shake hand with him , when he came close to me i just said Asalaam O Alikum , i didn’t hear his reply but managed to shake hand with him ( at that time i didn’t knew who he was and i was like he must be a the caretaker of kaaba or something ) my cousin who was behind me came to me wow u know who he was , i said must be a Saudi prince he said no that was shuraim he is imam , he was leading prayers at that point i realized his recitation was great , i still don’t know which surah he was reciting at that day but he was great .............

and also last year in may i was ( i don’t remember it was zuhra or asar) just after prayers i was going towards hijra aswad , when i saw too many people their i changed my mind i thought i must try to go in hateem then i went to rukne yaami touched it and then i was going towards hateem ( i think it was after zuhra as the open hateem after zuhar ) when i reached to hateem , SSt came out from hateem with one guard and he was in front of me i just said aslaam o alikum and he smiled and replied walikum asalam warhmatullah at that time pakistani came and kissed sst's hands touched his feets and man SST was angry he would have kicked that pakistani but before that’s guard pushed that guy ;D

i have few more but will post isnhaALlah
in aug

:sl:

Mashallah, nice stories :)

I dont think SST did that because the person was Pakistani, but because of what the person did. I dont think the Sheikhs like to be exalted or put above their position and theyre really careful about that. Mashallah, that shows their humbleness and strict following of Islam and Sunnah.

Sadly though, in the indian/pakistani culture, the kissing of feet and touching them of elders is a norm. People dont realize that such exxageration leads to shirk and that the Prophet even disliked his Companions standing up to greet him when he entered on them. ... Anyways sorry for the offtopicness :uhwhat

I think Sheikh Salih al Talib didn't mind the hands being kissed, but rather the feet being touched! :offended:

How did you know he was a Pakistani? :?

The thing is, many people kissed Sheikh Salih al Talibs forhead when I was there. lol And Sheikh Salih al Talib would just smile and if he knew the people he would laugh! lol

Man I remember one time, after prayer, I was going to my brother and I was going down the Bab Abdul Aziz place and Sheikh Salih al Talib was going out and I was going inwards if you gets me. From no where infront of me, this guy walks so fast infront of Sheikh Salih al Talib hugs him hard twice and I was like :offended: calm it! lol And right after that, a second guy comes really fast, grabs Sheikh Salih al Talib's head and kisses it! I was like poor Sheikh Salih al Talib, that was hard. :offended:

Another time was when I was going out after prayer with my brother, Sheikh Salih al Talib was infront of us and jus a few metres away from the Bab Abdul Aziz (outside) abooout a group of 4-6 men came up to Sheikh Salih al Talib hugged and kissed him the arab style and they all kissed him on his forehead. :) Sheikh Salih al Talib was just smiling and laughing and having a talk with them. They must've known eachother from before. But one thing that I got really    at was when this Asian man, who was very very very old; had white hair and beard, a hunch back and basically he was very old. :( He made an effort to walk about 6 feet to meet Sheikh Salih al Talib (while he was his friends) and when he got close to Sheikh Salih al Talib, the body guard told him to go away!! And I was like :ooh: :ooh: How dare he!! And the bad thing was, Sheikh Salih al Talib had his back to that poor old man so he had no idea what the body guard did. The old man walked back to where he was (with his family). Man poor guy. :( I still feel bad for not lecturing that guard.

Another time was when my friend went and she told me that when Sheikh Salih al Talib was coming out of the Haram, (the door) this guy went up to Sheikh Salih al Talib and kissed his hands. :)

^ Lucky people getting to meet him and know him. I dont recall SST leading when i was there. But then again, i didnt really know the Imams back then ( I think i was 10 or 11)..

I feel bad for the old man. You should have gone and lectured the guard. Id say he'd deserve it :-\

I was only talking about the touching of the feet. Thats whats rampant all over.

:w:

wa alaikum assalam

Honestly, when I do think about it, I feel real bad for not lecturing him. :( I wouldn't realllyyy of lectured him because I was standing in the Haram but ya know, given him some sense. <_<
What year did you go in Ahmed?

Hmm..I went in 2001...i think when i was 11. I remember Sudais leading there, because he did Janaza prayer once when i was in the second row. They wouldnt let me in the first row because i was too young. I remember being pushed back and being told to sit in the second :anger:

Actually, there were many hugs that he got off NON arabs.

Erm, don't Indian, Bangladeshis, Gujaratis and Pakistanis all wear the shalwar kameez? I'm sure most of them do?

No, I don't follow him, my gate happened to be the gate that the imams use. :)

Which reminds me!

It was isha time and I was going to prayer and Sheikh Subayal was walking in. (I saw him a number of times too! ) He has a walking stick. :)
What happened was he was walking in from the door entering the Masjid, and masha'Allah he was looking down and then a bunch of women abooout 6 of them walked right infront of Sheikh Subayal without even stopping <_< . Sheikh Subayal quickly stopped and was looking down masha'Allah till they didn't move out his way, and he carried on! :)
