yes sister i have in Ramadhan 2003 for the last 11 days. IOt was amazing mashallah

i went there when i was 13 for 'Umrah with my mother (Allah yar7ama) and my brother and sister.... was in 2002 I think. I remember how it looked like, it was as if i went yesterday. Masha-Allah stunning. But you walk 5 mins into town and it looks like a shanty:(. The rulers should do more for the Holy City and Birth place of our Prophet (SAW). However, I can't remember which sheikh was leading the prayer though. I didn't know any of the imams back then. I wish i knew:(.

How come it says 12/1/1427. I thought it was the 11th of al-Muharram today. I know there was a lot of confusion whether zul-qa'dah (1426) had 29 days or 30. In the end, they went for 30. Does that mean the 'majority' (in UK) are no longer following saudi?? Just wondering...

PS: Whatever the case, I still fasted on the 10th (Yawm al-'Aashooraa) alHamdulillah!

it could just be a genuine mistake by the website, allahu alam

Live Islam dates do not always correspond with Saudi dates. So if they say 12th, the doesn't mean its 12th in Saudi. :)

Doesn't matter...

has anyone listened to the new tune that ash-Shaykh ash-Shuraym unleashed for one night only on the last night of Ramadhan 1419AH? We recorded a bit on tape live (that's the year I started recording the grand shaykh's qiraa-ah) but masha-Allah sohari.com have all of it online (though it's not excellent quality): http://www.sohari.com/nawader_t/mekkah/listen/shraim_anfal_1419.ram, http://www.sohari.com/nawader_t/mekkah/listen/shraim_anfal_2_1419.rm, http://www.sohari.com/nawader_t/moshtarak/listen/shraim_sodays_tobah_1419.rm and http://www.sohari.com/nawader_t/moshtarak/listen/shraim_sodays_younus_1419(1-70).ram

The khutub (khutbahs) are given in classical (pure Qur-aanic) Arabic which all Arabs are taught.

Non-arabs, like me, who've learnt, and are still learning, arabic can understand varying amounts. Arabic is a beautiful language and I don't know how a Muslim cannot take the time out to at least try to learn it! Once you understand the basics, you can generally get a gist of what's being said.

However, a word of warning, ash-Shaykh as-Sudays' khutub are generally very high-level! Listen to today's khutbah, for example, and you'll hear many sentences rhyming and loads of new words (that I know I've never come across, but then again Arabic's a never-ending language).
