Tarawih (Arabic: تراويح) prayers are extra prayers given at night in the Islamic month of Ramadan. Tarawih prayers consist of either 8 or 20 raka'ahs, depending one which madhhab one follows. It is normal to attempt to recite the whole of the Qur'an during Ramadan. This is done by reciting one juz each night or in each tarawih by dividing the juz into several verses recited in one raka'ah.

An imam is a person who leads communal prayers and/or delivers the sermon on Fridays and Eid prayers.

Hope that helps. :)

There are 5 imams for the Grand Mosque in Makkah - Masjid al Haram

I think 5 in Madinah too in Masjid an Nabawi - The Prophet peace be upon hims Mosque.

Yes, they lead prayers whenever they are allocated to on their rota that they are given by the Mosque's committee..

Yes, we have imams in England too. :) Every Mosque has an imam.
