Yeh when parents notice the change then you know there's something... coz my sis told me mum stopped to listen to Sheikh Maahir's Sura Hajj the other night too.

Hmm, not watching Madeenah... Whose leading there now?

JazakAllah khair. But when you play it in 720p, you can tell its not really HD. The sound is excellent although. barakAllahu feeky

Sheikh Juhany, may Allah protect him, was just something else not just today, but this whole Ramadan. But today he did read in two different Maqaams. When he read in Hijaaz, he sounded just like Sheikh Mohammed Ayyoub. may Allah protect them both.

The way Shaikh Junahy recited لمن الملك اليوم... لمن الملك اليوم؟ ... الملك اليوم لله الواحد القهار was just ... no words to describe it.

I actually heard that Sheikh Subayyal is officially still Imam of Masjid al-Haram, but due to his age and number of Imams in Makkah he does not lead. Cause when he used to lead up til 2007, there were only 6 Imams. So they needed him to lead since the Imams were busy with other duties. Then Sheikh Juhany and Sheikh Mahir came around in mid 07 then Sheikh Khalid and Sheikh Faisal, so it actually opened up a lot of time for the older shuyookh to work things they were not able to before. Plus, I don't think they have official release for Imams, or retirement. Unless it's a arrest or suspension as it has happened before. Not sure though, wallahu 'alam.

PS: I thought those recordings of Sheikh Juhany were live from Masjid al-Haram, but they are just regular broadcast recordings. It did sound a bit like live recording though.

They are recorded from radio if I remember correctly
