Fight terrorism jointly: Al-Sudais
Arab News

MAKKAH/MADINAH: More than three million Muslim faithful attended juma, taraweeh and Qiyamullail prayers at the Two Holy Mosques on Friday as the imam of the Grand Mosque in Makkah called for joint efforts to combat terrorism.

The Haram in Makkah overflowed with worshippers as tens of thousands of faithful had come to perform Umrah and attend special prayers seeking Lailat Al-Qadr, the night of power.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, accompanied by senior princes, ministers and officials, is in Makkah to spend the last 10 days of Ramadan in the vicinity of Haram.

The king has instructed government departments to mobilize their resources in the service of the guests of God who have come from different parts of the world to perform Umrah and spend the blessed days of Ramadan at the Two Holy Mosques.

Security and traffic departments have deployed more officers around the Two Holy Mosques to maintain law and order and ensure smooth flow of pilgrims. The Health Ministry has made precautionary measures to protect the health of pilgrims from contagious diseases such as swine flu.

Delivering his Friday sermon, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, imam of the Grand Mosque, urged the faithful to fear God in all walks of their lives. He also urged Muslims to make use of the blessings in the last 10 days of Ramadan by engaging in worship and righteous deeds. “It’s a great blessing of God that we have another opportunity to live in these most blessed days and nights of the year,” he said. “We have to thank God for this blessing by doing good deeds. Are we ready to do that?” the imam asked.

He explained how the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his companions spent the last 10 days of Ramadan. The Prophet used to stay inside the mosque throughout the last 10 days of the holy month, seeking Lailat Al-Qadr. “This night is called Lailat Al-Qadr considering its importance and greatness. It’s better than a thousand months.”

Al-Sudais also spoke about the importance of paying Zakah, the compulsory payment of a specific portion of a person’s wealth. Most Muslims pay their Zakah during Ramadan to maximize their reward.

Human traffic eased at Grand Mosque
By Hani Al-Lihyani and Salman Al-Salami
MAKKAH – 1593 officials are engaged in directing and easing the passage of worshippers into and out of the Grand Mosque in Makkah at peak times.
The staff of the Pedestrian Monitoring Administration working in the courtyards of the Mosque, the largest prayer space in the world, are tasked with making entry and exit easy for worshippers during the peak times of 5 P.M. and 10 P.M by making themselves available to give directions as well as erecting signposts giving clear indications of the paths to follow in order for them to navigate through the vast numbers toward an exit from the Mosque.
“Crowding is inevitable, but there are factors that sometimes exacerbate the problem, such as pilgrims’ preference for entering the Mosque through Bab Al-Salam, and a certain lack of awareness of the sort of behavior that might make everyone’s passage through the space much easier,” said one official from the administration. – Okaz/SG

Yeh I heard about that ^^ lol. mashaAllah so many pilgrims..just making dua that I will be one of pilgrims soon inshaAllah

^Ameen, May Allah accept all of us to perform 'Umrah and visit Masjidun Nabawiyy.

^Ameen.

I didn't hear Qiyaamul Layl in Makkah last night (I fell asleep before it even started! imsad)
Did Sheikh Shuraim start again last night or did he do the dua? :><:

^Neither did I, I set my alarm for it, but didn't even hear the alarm imsad

According to haramainrecordings, Sheikh Sudais did dua last night. If Sheikh Shuraim had done dua, this thread would have been much busier last night :p

:w:

^Subhanallah. Khair InshaAllah. At least we had enough rest to be able to stay up for 'Ibadah tonight InshaAllah.

If Sheikh Shuraim had done dua, this thread would have been much busier last night :p

:ooh: That is true bi ithnillah :hiding:

does anyone has any idea why sheikh shuraim doesnt do dua anymore? imsad , i so miss his duas...:(

^So do I sis.

Maybe we should all sign a petition requesting that he start doing dua again and sent it to him via bro AS
:statisfie :hiding:

^that would be great, but i think brother AS wouldnt like to do that. imsad, i guess this has something to do with the king, in king Fahads days,Sheikh Shuraim was everywhere, he selected him and stuff but since he died(may Allah have mercy upon him), Shuraim is being avoided in some sense, he stopped doing khatm duas, and now he doesnt do even witr duas anymore.:(, whereas imams a lot junior to him are given precedence. may be king Abdullah prefers other imams more or... i dont know what.:X
please dont tell me its non-sense, i also share your opinion but i was just thinking this could be a possible reason.:hiding: , does anyone think it makes sense? :X

^ I don't know :( you could be right but I don't know :hmm:

But I think that Shuraim has declined doing the duas because he becomes too emotional :hmm: but I do wish he would do duas again, just as hard as I wish Sheikh Saalih Aal Taalib will do taraweeh again. btw, has Sheikh Shuraim ever done a khatam dua in Haram:?

You DO have a point sister Malaak, but lets not jump to conclusions.
I mean maybe King Abdullah allows the Imaams more freedom of choice than King Fahd (RA) did. And maybe it's the choice of Sheikh Shuraim not to do dua.

Or maybe Sheikh Shuraim wants the other Imaams to have an opportunity to experience what he has been gifted with i.e. the honour of being able to do dua in front of the Ka'bah with such a large congregation of Muslims.

Maybe out of humility he feels that they are more deserving of it than he is.MAybe he feels that his sincerity would be affected if he makes dua in public

:><: Wallahu A'lam :peace:

^ yeah sis Raudhah that could be a possible reason. in fact i heard something like this but i think it was about khatm dua, that SS doesnt do it because he thinks he would become too emotional and would make all the dua and ask everything for himself only:X :hmm: lol, i might be mistaken but i think i learned something like this from this very thread some time back. btw, he doesnt become too emotional in duas generally,or does he?its sheikh sudais whose duas are more emotional.@ sis bintAbee i think he has done a khatm dua in haram, i have a recording of it. its like one of his old rare styles where you can be dead sure that the voice is not sheikh shuraim's but actually it is:hmm:, and the tone is so strikingly different from his usual one but its truly awesome...
i think he has done khtm other than that too though i never listened to it, my friend told me though, that was like some 6 years back or so, since their was no haramainrecordings back then, one couldnt listen to the recording, plus my friend can be wrong too. :><: may be someone has any idea how many times he has actually done khatm duas.

^I thought Sheikh Shuraim never ever did a khatam dua in Haram :ooh: and he definately did not do a khatam dua since 2000. The only khatam dua I heard was from when he was Imaam in Riyaadh :><: Where's Najiullah? he should know :hmm:
