Indeed, the Quran was sent down as a complete guidance to mankind, in it are soul striking verses for us to ponder and realize what is our real purpose in life and to where our journey begun and will end, and that is to come home to the One Who Created everything that exists, Allah.

Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.). That is purer for them. Verily, Allah is All-Aware of what they do.Surat An-Nur | Verse 30

Ramadan is only days away, yet even those days are not guaranteed. We shouldn't solely depend on Ramadan to change our habits. Let's switch on #RamadanMode today.

Allah says: "Eat and drink, but be not excessive. Indeed, He does not like those who commit excess." [Sûrah al-A`râf: 31]

Some scholars have commented on this verse, saying: "Allah has gathered together all of medicine in this verse."

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The child of Adam fills no vessel worse than his stomach. Sufficient for the child of Adam are a few morsels to keep his back straight. If he must eat more, then a third should be for his food, a third for his drink, and a third left for air." [Sunan al-Tirmidhî (2380) and Musnad Ahmad (17186) and authenticated by al-Albânî in Sahîh al-Jâmi`]

tumblr_o8gvfjZiJo1rhu2gao1_500-1.png

There is a major barrier that's blocking many Muslims from getting closer to Allah and improving their relationship with Him. This barrier is losing hope in the mercy of Allah.*

Sometimes people think that Allah will never forgive them because of the multitude of their sins. As a result, they slacken in performing their acts of worship and some even abandon them as they lose hope in attaining the mercy of Allah. However, Allah, The Exalted has said:

Say, O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful. (Surah Az-Zumar, Ayah 53)

Remember to repent and seek forgiveness before it is too late as we do not know the time of our departure from this world. Use Ramadan, the best of months to remove such feelings from your heart and always keep your hopes high with Allah.*

The blessed month of Ramadan is the best month to share your wealth with the poor and the needy because the reward for every single act of charity in this holy month is far greater than other months.

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

Allah said: "Spend, O son of Adam, and I shall spend on you."

Smoking goes against the saying of the Prophet SAWS:

Your body has a right on you.

The money that is spent on cigarettes is used on buying a harmful thing and is therefore an extravagance. Allah said (interpretation of the meaning):
and do not be extravagant wasters. Those who are extravagant are kinsmen of Satan. (Surat al-Israa? 17:26-27)

More over studies show that Smoking a cigarette causes harm in minutes not years.

tumblr_o8mf5u2L9J1rhu2gao1_r1_500.png

The Qur'an is the nourishment of every person's soul, the light of the heart and guidance to the straight path.

Allah SWT says:
"Indeed, this Qur'an guides to that which is most suitable."
[Qur'an: Chapter 17, Verse 9]

Whenever you feel like you are losing your energy and that your performance is starting to drop, quickly turn to the Qur'an and you will always find a way out. The Qur'an explains what a person can do to recharge one's Iman. Whenever you open the Qur'an, recite at least one verse of it, and look for help in that verse because there is guidance in every verse of the Qur'an.

tumblr_o8k58kpGnc1rhu2gao1_r1_500-1.png

The Ramadan fast is one of the biggest enemies of the Nafs. For each person who wishes to walk the path that leads to bliss, he has to realize that one of the ways to achieve that is through disciplining his Nafs. He has to realize that it is the biggest enemy of a believer. More importantly, he has to understand that the devotion of a believer lies not only in completing his obligations, but also avoiding sins.

The Nafs is the one thing that drives us to obey carnal desires instead of using our limbs to perform acts of devotion. It makes us choose the things which are more comfortable and easier for us instead of the hardships which a believer should endure. For example; at the end of the night, we usually find it more comfortable to continue sleeping instead of leaving the comfort of our mattresses to enjoy the hardship of our prayer mats - that is the Nafs talking. It clouds our judgement, prioritizes temporary comforts over the eternal bliss that is the akhirah.

tumblr_o8irxplfYz1rhu2gao1_500-1.png

A person should ask his Lord for whatever he wants of the good things in this world and the Hereafter, and he should beseech Allah in du'a, and not seek a hasty response, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

"The slave will receive a response so long as his du'a does not involve sin or severing of family ties, and so long as he is not hasty."
It was said, "What does being hasty mean?" He said: "When he says, 'I made du'a and I made du'a, and I have not seen any response,' and he gets frustrated and stops making du'a." Narrated by al-Bukhari, 6340; Muslim, 2735.

tumblr_o8vrruxnAD1rhu2gao1_500.png

Understand what you're reciting.

You don't have to be a scholar to understand what you're reciting. We should make the effort to understand at least some of what is read during salah.

For example, Surah al-Fatihah is something we all read during salah but do we know what, "Iyyaka na'a budu wa-iyyaka nasta aeen" means? (You {Alone} we worship, and You {Alone} we ask for help [for each and everything]. This Surah is also fairly short and therefore not difficult to remember.

Once we understand what we are reading during salah even if it's not all of what is read, then we will find that sweetness you obtain from salah {with Allah's grace} through understanding what we are saying. This can only allow us to become closer to Him.

That is why it is highly recommended to get a copy of the translation of the Quran (the more recent translations include backgrounds) so you understand what you're reading as well as the story behind it. This will, inshaAllah, increase the enjoyment we receive from our recitation during Salah.

tumblr_o8tv91cDrd1rhu2gao1_r1_500-1.png

Islam teaches Muslims that giving in secret is far superior to giving publicly, and that drawing attention to one's charitable actions is a highly undesirable quality. The Prophet said: "Allah loves the God-fearing rich man [who gives much in charity but still] remains obscure and uncelebrated." (Muslim)

Giving charity in secret is best when giving charity that is voluntary (Sadaqah). Regarding voluntary charity, God says in the second chapter of the Quran:
"If you disclose your Sadaqaat (almsgiving), it is well; but if you conceal them and give them to the poor, that is better for you." [Quran 2:271]

tumblr_n6urjf1j561rhu2gao1_500-1.jpg

lionofallah:
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
“I swear by Him in whose hand is my soul, if you were a people who did not commit sin, Allah would take you away and replace you with a people who would sin and then seek Allah’s forgiveness so He could forgive them.”

[Sahīh Muslim-(2687)]

Allah already has a creation which is sinless. He has the angels who “never disobey Allah in what He commands them and carry out whatever they are told to do.” [Sūrah al-Tahrīm: 6] they glorify Allah without fail. Some are standing in prayer, some are bowing, and some are in prostration saying: “Glory be to the the possessor of the dominion and its possessions! Glory be to the possessor of might and irresistible power. Glory be to the Living One who never dies!”-

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
“I see and hear what you do not. The heavens heaved, and they have a right to do so, since there is not a place the width of a hand span that is not occupied by an angel prostrating his forehead to Allah.”

[Sunan al-Tirmidhī-(2312) and-Sunan Ibn Mājah-(4190)]-
In spite of all this, Allah in His wisdom wanted to create beings besides the angels – human beings who would need to be guided to the proper path and who were capable of going astray.-Allah says:
“Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving.” [Sūrah al-Insān: 3]
This is the nature upon which Allah created the human being. It is unavoidable that people will err. Therefore Allah has permitted us to ask His forgiveness. Indeed, He exhorts us to do so, and He promises us His forgiveness.-

We should make it a habit to seek Allah’s forgiveness as often as we can. Constancy in beseeching forgiveness is a cure for the maladies of the heart as well as a means of having our sins erased.-

How much Allah is willing to forgive us can be seen in the following hadith related in-Sahīh al-Bukhārī-and-Sahīh Muslim:
Someone committed a sin and then said: “O Allah! Forgive me my sin.”-

Allah said: “My servant committed a sin, but knew that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes sins.”-

Then he committed the sin again and said: “My Lord! Forgive me my sin.”-

Allah said: “My servant committed a sin, but knew that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes sins.”-

Then he committed the sin again and said: “My Lord! Forgive me my sin.”

Allah said: “My servant committed a sin, but knew that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes sins. Do as you will, for I have forgiven you.”

[Sahīh al-Bukhārī-(7507) and-Sahīh Muslim-(2758)]

We understand from this hadīth that when Allah forgives a sin, it is forgiven. If the person commits the same sin again, Allah will not revoke His forgiveness for the previous time the sin was committed, but will only hold the sinner to account for the present occurrence. Forgiveness is something Allah gives, and He does not revoke what He gives. Once a sin is wiped from our records, it is wiped away for good.-
