Salam,
When I was a small kid I followed a course to read the Qur'an, but unfortunately it was very brief. I never went back because the teacher made me cry, lol. As a consequence I still can't read the Qur'an in Arabic and I can't seem to pronounce certain words in certain duas and suras correctly during namaz/salat... for example the "z" seems to be pronounced like a "d" but not quite. I do listen to mp3 of duas and suras but strangely; it's never the same!!
I sometimes read that your salat/namaz won't be accepted if you can't pronounce all the duas and suras right. This is funny, yesterday I read on some site that it can even lead to kufr. I found that extremely strange to be honest. I know that both my parents also can't pronounce all duas and suras correctly and many many other people I know can't either! Is the only solution to take a course? I could of course ask in the masjid if they provide courses for adults..
In the meantime, should I stop praying because incorrect pronunciation might lead to 'kufr' (!) according to that (in my opinion) idiotic site I was reading yesterday? Why do some Islamic scholars always have to make people afraid?? Unintentionally becoming a kafir (estagfirullah) is something I fear most in life :hiding:
