Introduction to Hadith and the Nomenclature of the People of Hadith
Even though Hadith is the second fundamental source of Shariah after the Qur'an, many are unaware of the history, science and classification of Hadith. In this course students will be introduced to the sciences of Hadith based on Imam Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani's calssical work on the nomenclature of the Hadith scholars. 'Nukhbatul Fikr' of ibn Hajar is regarded as a masterpiece;summarising larger works of scholars before him such as Al-Hakim An-Naisaburi, Al-Khatib al-Baghdadi and Ibn Salah.

With Shaykh Mohammad Akram Nadwi
Shaykh Mohammed Akram Nadwi is from the Indian city of Lucknow and a graduate of Nadwatul Ulama (India) where he studied and taught Shariah. Shaykh Akram is a Muhaddith of the highest caliber holding Ijaza (licenses) from many of the most renowend scholars of our time including Shaykh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi. Shaykh Akram Nadwi has a doctorate in Arabic Language and has authored and translated over 25 titles. He is the recipient of the Allama Iqbal prize for contribution to Islamic thought. He is currently a Research Fellow at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies.
