Assalâmu alaykum (Peace be with you) On behalf of the Muslim community of Leicester you are cordially invited to…
7/7 ‘a year on’
…we remember, we reflect.

Highfields Community Centre- Main Hall | Friday 7/7 July 2006 | 7pm – 8:30pm

Abstract/ objectives

A year ago the London terror outrage of July 7 brought home to us that the threat from suicide bombers does not simply come from foreigners in distant conflicts, but from people who live and have grown up amongst us.

A year on we recognise that though a small minority; how and why British-born Muslims would want to blow themselves up is difficult to understand, though understand and tackle we must if we are to prevent these acts in the future.

A year on the Muslim and wider community of Leicester stand united in their disgust at all acts of hate and politically motivated violence.

A year on we hope to address some of the crucial contemporary issues and the challenges facing Muslims in the West by drawing upon an intellectual framework from within a classical Islamic discourse, and thus provides a social, political and cultural observation of the world in which we all live in today.

A year on we ask for more understanding, a more harmonious, multicultural future for Britain that includes Britain’s Muslims which embraces our diversity as a strength, a positive asset rather than a detriment; conducive to this peaceful future we envisage.

A year on we remember…

A year on we reflect.

difficult to understand
This is easy to undertsand they see the west as the enemy they'd probably just wanted the status of the shaheed but were minipulated by extremists.

A year on the Muslim and wider community of Leicester stand united in their disgust at all acts of hate and politically motivated violence.
The same old "ISLAM IS PEACE" speech funny how people find it so easy to condem but have they ever asked themselfs did we ever teach them or the youths who were supposed to be imam over the rules of 'Jihad', 18 years of my life and not one person has sat down with me or tried to explain to me the concept behind this term, I have to resort to the internet and books and reaserch the topic on my own, you'd think with a topic which has the potential of leading to death would be taught to everyone with sahih daleel, but sadly this isn't the case.
