is cloud ear fungus halal?

Asalaamu Alaikum,

I have never come across this ingredient before knowingly. Does anyone know if cloud ear fungus is halal? I tried googling it and it seems that it is a natural fungi that just grows on trees. I just prepared a stir fry yesterday and the frozen veggies bag I got had this product too.

Pleeease let me know Insha Allah as I would really like to eat some of the food soon

In Indonesia we call "ear fungus" as "jamur kuping". (jamur=fungus kuping=ear). There are few species of jamur kuping, which cloud ear fungus (auricularia polytricha) is known as "jamur kuping hitam" (black ear fungus). Is it halal?. Yes, Muslims in Indonesia eat it.
