Is it okay to physically separate people?

Assalamu alaykum,

Is it okay to physically separate people when they're arguing(especially when its sinful) when you know if you leave it things would most likely get worse.. It doesn't really feel nice especially when they're older than you but seems to be the only thing that ever works as reasoning rarely if ever does.

If it will not cause you harm then you should try to do that.

Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever among you sees an evil action, let him change it with his hand [by taking action]; if he cannot, then with his tongue [by speaking out]; and if he cannot, then with his heart [by at least hating it and believing that it is wrong], and that is the weakest of faith.” Narrated by Muslim in his Saheeh.
