Is sky a dome and close to us?

Allah says,Have they not looked at the heaven above them - how We structured it and adorned it and [how] it has no rifts?(sura qaaf: 6)
does this ayat proves that sky is so close that we could detect any rift on it with bare eyes?
imam tabari wrote in tafsir of sura baqarah (ayat 22) that, ibn masud, ibn abbas (ra.) and katadah (rah.) said that the sky is like a dome. Are those sahih?
other ayats also indicates that sky is so close.as example,
Allah says, And if they were to see a fragment of the heaven falling, they would say: A heap of clouds(sura at-tur 44)
and, "And when the sky is riven asunder, "( sura mursalat :9)

close is relative. It depends what you exactly mean with "sky". the sky starts right above your head, so yes pretty close...but where it ends is vague. but detect any rift on it? maybe my english is not good enough, but what exactly is a rift in the sky?

And what exactly do you mean with "dome"? A solid border somewhere in the sky as a container for the atmosphere?
In that case, no, the sky is not a dome.

But it can be seen like a dome...it is like a giant ball where we live in.

I love astronomy, but haven't enough time to spend for it.
I have an assumption regarding sky.
The density of the universe determines its shape. It could be spherical, saddle-shaped or flat.
so,the universe could be of different shapes. if the universe is dome shaped, sky would be dome too.
but here ibn taimiya said that,sky is round and it's the opinion of the majority https://islamqa.info/en/118698
before qiyamah solid sky will break down and fragments of it will reach earth through worm-holes or such portals,as space -time will be severely distoryed.and may be we will be able to see rifts on sky then,because light can pass through worm-hole too.

The shape of the sky has nothing to do with the shape of the universe.
The sky is spherical for the same reason as why the horizon is circular.
The size of the sky depends on definition. İf you mean the area with atmosphere...then the sky is a shell around earth 50 km thick...
İf you mean that the moon, the sun and stars visible with naked eye are also included in the sky...then it is a lot bigger....but still not as big as the universe. Worm holes? Portals? That is nonsence...it has no basis in science.
İ do not know what you are seeing on the video you shared...but it sure looks fake. İ do not think that is a natural phenomenon.
Of course all those those things may be possible if Allah wishes that to happen...but then we call them miracles.
 
it seems that you are right too,but from different perspective ;) that video is real. you will find enough information on Wikipedia. wormholes have nothing to do with islam.so,they may exist.

No, the heaven above is the space becuase the adornament refers to the stars. Had there been a rift in space, it would have been seen even with the naked eye. You should have seen enough sci-fi movies to know a rift in space-time continuum to have an idea.

i don't know about sahih or not but if you were to stand outside and look above you in all directions, it does look like a dome. So sky is like a dome in that sense, doesn't mean it literally is.

some translations say sky and some says heaven. For example, saheeh international uses the world 'heaven' while hilal and Khan translation uses the word 'sky'. Two are not the one and the same though. Sky is often referred to as the earth's atmosphere above us while heaven is further out then that. You have to properly read the ayahs and their tafsir as well as the hadiths and their commentary to properly understand what context they were being said in.

İn that case...Bigfoot and the Loch Ness monster also have nothing to do with İslam...so they may exist too...see how stupid that sounds?
Thing is...there is no known phenomenon that requires the existence of wormholes or portals...those are fiction...nothing else...no science involved...
 
I wwant to add again, sheikh salih al uthaymin (rah:) said: rift means doors and angels will come to earth through these doors on qiyamah.
