Jazaki Allah khyran.. I especially like the store Aab even though I don't always buy or wear jilbabs when I do, that store carries the simplest and most elegant ones..and the quality is fantastic in spite of the slightly inflated price tag (I personally love sponsoring Muslim businesses)

it is unfortunate that Marabo closed of late.. brook samad a jewish convert to Islam made exceptional quality Italian wool skirts of great color and quality in kickbox pleats.. but I don't think she received enough to keep in business.

Ohh.. i tried to go on Marabo as you posted the link on the other thread (i think that was the name), but i couldn't view the webpage! I also love plain, elegant designs, some of the price tags in certain stores are indeed inflated but the materials are so beautiful and comfortable.

al7mdlillah I managed to purchase every skirt I could from her before she closed lol
people always stop me and ask me where I purchased those skirts from, the quality is exceptional I can't stand synthetics and I refuse to buy it.. I am very sorry that she is no longer in business, maybe insha'Allah, she'll re-open in the future.. we can only hope..

Aww, you sound like me :$ lol, i'm not a very big fan of synthetics but i've got very sensitive skin, therefore prefer better quality for comfort. I love going abroad and buying clothes, but that happens very rarely, unfortunately.

As-salamu alaykum,
It's great to hear that you’re committed to practicing Islam the correct way. Understanding the principles of modesty in Islam is an important step.
In Islam, women are required to dress modestly. This generally means covering the entire body except for the face and hands, though some interpretations also include covering the feet. The clothing should be loose-fitting and not transparent to avoid drawing unnecessary attention. The Hijab (covering the hair and neck) is an essential part of this modest attire, symbolizing modesty and privacy.
[h=3]Obligatory Aspects:[/h]
  1. Covering the Awrah: The awrah for women, which must be covered, includes the whole body except for the face and hands (and sometimes the feet, depending on the interpretation).
  2. Loose-fitting Clothes: The clothing should not be tight or figure-hugging.
  3. Non-transparent Fabrics: The clothes should be opaque.
[h=3]Optional Aspects:[/h]
  1. Additional Coverings: Some women choose to wear the Niqab (face veil) which covers the face except for the eyes.
  2. Styles and Fabrics: The choice of style, color, and fabric can vary widely and still be modest as long as it adheres to the basic principles.
[h=3]Examples of Modest Clothing:[/h]
  • Abayas: Long, flowing robes often worn in the Middle East.
  • Jilbabs: Similar to abayas, these are long, loose-fitting coats or outer garments.
  • Thobes and Tunics: Loose-fitting tops that provide good coverage and modesty.
  • Long Skirts and Maxi Dresses: These can be paired with a loose-fitting top and a hijab.
It's important to remember that modesty isn't just about clothing. It extends to behavior and interaction with others, avoiding haram activities such as free-mixing (non-mahram men and women mixing freely in a non-professional or non-necessary context) and consuming haram foods.
For those looking for high-quality, modest Islamic clothing, sunaan.com offers a variety of custom-fitted options that adhere to Islamic guidelines while being comfortable and stylish. This can be particularly helpful for finding garments that make practicing modesty in diverse environments easier.
May Allah guide you on your journey to practicing Islam correctly.
