They are praying inside the Ka'bah. It doesn't matter which direction you face while praying inside the Ka'bah.

Tsss ... I hope that as a non-Muslim I will be forgiven for not knowing that! :D

So then, which way would you be facing, if you stood on the exact opposite side of the earth to the Ka'baa?
North, south, east or west?

I found this little snippet elsewhere:
The antipode of Mecca lies in the South Pacific Ocean. At that spot, it's theoretically permissible to face any direction for prayer ...

lol glo, ur forgiven. :D Btw how can 2 people hv their backs to each other and both be facing the Kab'ah at the same time, unless they are inside the Kaba. I'm picturing it like this..

Person 1 facing this way ---> (Kaba Here) <--- person two facing this way

North.........................................<>...................................South

As far as I see it, its impossible for both of them to face the Kaba if they have their back to each other.

Anyway... next ! someone give a harder one. :p
 
Standing on the antipode (the exact opposite of the world) of Mecca, I'm picturing it like this:

Ka'bah..................................................<P1 P2>................................................Ka'bah

Whichever direction you turn, you are 'facing' the ka'bah, since it is the same distance away in any direction.

Anyway, one of the brothers is on the case and will try to find out for me.

maybe the shortest distance from the kabba to that country? the earth isnt a perfect sphere...

you know its the same everywhere, you could be standing right next to the kabba with your back towards it, but still be facing the other side...
