Its not just a modern version of a sword (which can sybolise protection, fighting evil, valour etc), but instead it represents violence, killing and war.

hmm the truth is, yes Islam encourages peace as much as possible! However it also commands justice!

For example your are sleeping peacefully in your home with your family and kids, and some forces are trying to force you out of your house, or are trying to make you follow certain rules(you disagree with) in your house... Or do all kind of terrible things.

First thing you do is command them to leave... by reasoning with them in good manner... however after several attempts of peaceful discussions then you will have to force them out maybe by power... Thats maybe something you don't want to do, but you have to in order to live a free life. A life without you being opressed.

Does that make a bit sense? I hope it does:)

ابدا بدار الخلد والرضوان
يا رب ثبتنا على الايمان
واجــعلنا هداة التائه الحيران
وأعزنا بالحق وانصرنا به
نصرا عزيزا أنت ذو السلطان
وعلى رسولك أفضل الصلوات
والتــسليم منك وأكمل الرضوان
