There is a hadith reported by Bukhari:

Aisha narrated: "A poor woman once came to me along with her two daughters. I gave her three dates. She gave each of her daughters a date and kept the third for herself. But when she was about to eat hers, the girls expressed desire to have it. So she divided the date that she ntended to eat between them. This (kind) treatment impressed me and I mentioned it to the prophet who commented: 'Verily Allah has assured Paradise for her on account of her kindness.' "
