How about screen printing shirts and jackets and then selling them(or giving) at REASONABLE prices to young muslims. We can combat the obsession with western fashion labels and therefore ideals by providing our young with a trendy and instantly recognizable alteranative with the added advantage of insha-Allah boosting the awareness of our deen. The shirts can simply be T,s for males and longsleeve T,s for females. As long as the ensignia is a decently attempted design, with the permission of Allah it might do well. Teens especially endevour to express themselves by whatever means(peircing, tatoos, clothing, etc...) Why not give our kids particularly those in western cultures something to express themselves that meets them halfway between the two World ideals they live in ie. Islam and Society. The signature doesnt need to be so bold as to turn heads. Just the word Muslim or Muslimah printed on the back or on one side of the front. this of course depends on the resources available but with t shirts and polos available from 5-10 $ retail it is totally feasable if one has a couple of hundred dollars of expendable/disposable income or savings. the only difficulty is coming up with a design that is appropriate. or even something like this assalam alaikum

They wanted to turn away the ill effects of the TV, so they created an Islamic Channel. Now we spend all our day watching Islamic Channel and not some other program, but still looking at women and men we're not supposed to. What sort of an Islamic Channel is this?

Creating new designer wear for Muslims would only leave them too interested in looking good and trendy, forgetting the whole reason of why they're wearing the clothing. Come on, we all know how something starts off with a good intention, but then slowly we give in to that little voice in our heads.

This is one of the problems of the Ummah today. Islam is becoming too commercial as of lately. All these 'artists', all these 'events' ... it's like becoming something of what they do.

You know what my grandfather says, who cares if they're of this age, just grab them by their ears and pull them in the Masjids. No need to invite them using big events with artists and the whole lot. Ha, I love him.

its a cool idea....Z has a point.......And when people wear clothes they enterthe bathroom so you would have to be very careful that it is okto eter bathrooms and so so with what ever is on the logo....

Alhumdolillah, its great to get positive and encouraging feedback. I pray Allah rewards us all in our efforts to improve ourselves and others. Masha-Allah its great that your grandfather was such a person (may Allah elevate his status). Thank you for your input. It gives me more to consider in light of the fact that this is a project I have been seriously contemplating for some time. Jazaakallahu Kathirun

creating t shirts with muslim logos builds identity , you don't have to look at it commercial wise. lokk at it from the side of growing mulsim identity in muslims. it's a very cool idea!

Umm hello, excuse me ... building identity? Where have you been for the last few years? Just stick a beard on your face, a hijab on your head and done, you will now be identified as a Muslim. Why do we have to create tee's and commercialise Islam? It doesn't make sense.

I agree. Though this particular project is not exactly the same, commercialising Islam with these silly 'Allah' necklaces and so forth is both tacky and offensive.

But I don't think you should put a beard and a hijab on at the same time.
